You and I

We’re not human
you and I
said dreamer
to his dream.
We’re of Life
so indefinable
exactly as we seem.

The Proud Lhasa Apso

With hair golden, thick, lavishly long
Praised in Tibet with dance, poem and song
You’re the proud Lhasa Apso
How you take naps on one’s lap so!
With refined, gentle folk you shall always belong

cold harsh desolate terrain
where life to us seems hostile and cruel
gardens painstakingly nurtured
with minimal returns

so much effort so little gain
yet a most appreciative and spiritual people
atop their mountains so close to God

Two Boys of Tibet
Two boys of Tibet

There was a young boy of Tibet
Liked Swimming, but not getting wet
He said he would try
To swim when it’s dry
What a silly young boy of Tibet

Another young boy of Tibet
Had a Snowman he kept as a pet
That’s abominable said I
Yeti, couldn’t see why
Elusive was that Boy of Tibet...

(Young Tibetan woman at a tea house in Saga, Western Tibet, 2009)

With Light

I walked through the market
but there was nothing I wanted to buy,
nothing I thought I needed,
until the smile
on the faces of a few
gave me what can’t be bought,
and in that moment I drained the full cup
I’d been carefully holding
and filled it anew
with light.

Society
"The world is, as we are" - Yogi Maharishi.

Everyone will know if you have won a jackpot,
but a few will know if you have found God
in the misty mountains of Tibet.

People can tell you that you are doing fine,
while they know your mortgage will run
you bankrupt.

We know others' lives more and better than we know ours.

Welcome to the society we've made for ourselves......

A Young Man From Tibet
A Man from Tibet

There was a young man from Tibet
Who had wanted to become a vet. But bitten by the hog, And chased by the dog, He took to his bed instead....

Bucket List
maybe see the deepest valley in the ocean
or Mars
maybe see the Lincoln and Vietnam Memorial
or Tibet
maybe see the oldest living tree on the planet
or the Parthenon
maybe see Bethlehem and the Wailing Wall
or a volcano
maybe see distant relatives I've never known
or yesterday...

or you again
maybe see both of you again, before I die
before I die again...

Shambhala
The legendary land of light
veiled by snow and sand
is one of many Eastern myths
we've yet to understand.

From the golden Gobi desert
to the mountains of Tibet
live the guardians of Earth
to whom we owe a debt.

Protected by the force of thought
when ego is cast out
the password is goodwill to man
no more, no less, no doubt.

The legend of Shambhala
is very much alive
and said to house the knowledge
to help mankind survive....

I Get Hurt So Much I Feel So Pain
TIBET

My country is my heart.
The land is my body.

People came with sharp machines.
Maiming my limbs,
Dismembering my insides.

Without permession,
Without pay.

My soul is forced out of my body.
My blood turns rancid, poisonous.

They gouge deep wounds over my body.
My tears are as rain.

I want to protect me.
I feel too weak.

I can’t breathe.
I can’t move.

I, so powerless under Chinese violation.
I am in excruciating pain.

Can you hear my cry?...

Premium Member I Would Not Be a Cow - And Yet
Why is it so pleasant to think back in time
‘specially as we near the end of the line

Do we treasure our innocence, our youthful naivete
or unlike Bessie the cow, we know what comes next

Stupid she stands, flies near her eyes congregate
I would not be a cow for all the tea in Tibet

And yet… Why can’t I just live for today, like all the songs say
I guess tomorrow’s too gloomy, ergo I run far away
