Touch
Featherlight touches
Fluttering kisses
Thudding heartbeats
One look
One gasp
A million desires erupt.

April
April's showers brings May's flowers,
Rain thudding down the window.

The storm will bring colour and joy,
Rain pattering on the ceiling.

When the rain thuds down the window,
Its hard to belive it's spring.

When the rain patters on the ceiling,
It's hard to remember colour.

When storms come and go,
Spring seems to die.

April is a spring month,
But all seems like winter....

Crush
Crush
Is a stranger
With warm eyes
Sweet smile and
A dimple on his left cheek

Crush
Is her heart
Falling fast and hard
To this stranger
Unknown, oblivion
To him

Crush
Is her heart beating
Thudding
Screaming
Yelling
Longing for him

And crush
Is her heart breaking
Sound of it crashing
Tears falling
Knowing
For he’ll never be hers
Just a stranger from a far....

Don'T Push Me Any Longer
Please do not call me a chicken
Or I swear you will be pickin'
Yourself up off the hard ground
As I hear a thudding sound
As your hitting the pavement
Now I'm making a statement
In your mind so terrifying
That you better not be trying
To push me around no more
Like so many times before
As my strength is bigger now
Get out of my face or POW
I leave a lasting impression
With a fist punch as a lesson...

She Will Never Get the Chance
She saw him across the room
The illuminated orange glow of his stick
The deep, mournful rhythm of the music
Thumping, thumping

Uncoiling slender limbs
She moves subconsciously closer to him
The drum-beat pounding
The smoke drifting
Unfathomed, darkened eyes shaded

Heart thudding, she stares
Background vinyl singer wailing
Eyes, nothing but eyes,
His brown shaded eyes

Solitary, distant worlds....

Monochrome Girl
Silence and noise
Daybreak and twilight
Monochrome girl
In black and white.

Each day living
In a world with no
Colour or life
Or glimmer or glow.

Both colours
Meaningless as the other
White a nuisance
Black a mere bother.

Soles thudding on ground
Running away
From the fears that haunted
Her both night and day.

A gasp of pain
Sharp shoots of dread
Monochrome girl
Now splattered with red....

Heat
The crisp brown earth sits,
Broken
Where the depths of ocean blue
Still refuse to fall.

The Weary feet tramp,
Sickeningly thudding
Hewing the broken brown flesh
To the cloudy whirlwind above

Silence’s deafening din whispers,
Broken only by the harsh cries
of long drawn out croaks,
from circling scavengers

Winged in feathered rags
With naught but breeze to relieve
the cruel afternoon’s gaze,
frying the crisp brown earth....

Thudding
Sitting looking at the wall,
My mind is a blank,
To tired to think,
To tired to care,
To tired to do anything,
Please make this headache go away,
Three days it been now,
This constant thud in my head,
I need to sleep but its thud thud thud,
I close my eyes trying to drift off,
Thud thud thud,
Rubbing my temples doesn't help,
Painkillers don't work,
One thing I I haven't tried,
A dark room finally relief and sleep....

Shattered
I set my glass on the table
It wobbles as I set it down fast
In a rush
Sirens is all I here
Everything is muffled
I ran out to the front yard
Glass still wobbling, moving closer to the edge

All in slow motion
All I hear is the thudding of my heart
The glass, frozen, on the edge
My heart stops

Crash

I hit the floor
The glass shatters to the smallest of pieces

I'll never see that glass the same as I once did...

Raining Cats and Dogs
As cats and dogs fall from the sky
it isn't easy to keep dry.
Caught in the thumping, thudding pain
of the meowing, barking rain.

The pitter patter of their feet
at other times would be a treat,
but when they poke you in the eye,
it's times like these they make you cry.

The tears now streaming down your face,
the pitter patter speeds it's pace,
with pets now pouring from the sky
it's time to get inside... and dry!

Mum Humming...
Birds chirping on a Sunday..
Mother humming and kitchen..
sounds in the background.
It sounds like she's taking
her time making her dish.
Soft chopping,quiet thudding
and gentle mixing sounds.
Her humming while she's
cooking is hypnotic and
making me sleepy.
A fresh bread aroma wafts
from the kitchen...
She's making bread!
Deliscious hot bread straight
from the oven with a pat of
butter on it.
Couldn't think of anything
better!...

Who Will
WHO WILL? With frozen tears, she stands alone, Not knowing what to do, With nobody to call her own, Who will her heart subdue? Listen to her heart thudding loud, She faces the unknown, When darkness does her face enshroud, Who will hearken her groan? With weeping, she worries and frets, Emotions rule her mind, Sometimes, her purpose she forgets, Who will help her unwind? 11.23.2020 (8.6.8.6 syllables)

A Momentary Disturbance
Your noise defiles

colours now brick, mortar
grey and thudding

sinews of tranquility
screeching, curled up
tightness gripping,
thoughts overturned
distracted....

a harmony of notes
has been struck
damaged, distorted

but now at last - it's back

please stay!

Its sound - painful
exulting, wanting
yearning and twisting

a pit of harmony to
crush the chest
and bring forth
an exposition of tears

Stay here, stay a while
forever yearning

for the tranquility.....

Secrets Too...The Inner Sanctum
In the inner sanctum of my broken heart,
there's a place still beating that is set apart.

like a little child with a toy drum,
blind and sick and deaf and dumb,
Thudding on and on and on,
until that some one calls her home.

To the tom tom rhythm
should I ask her name?
Then would I ever be the same?

Do I want to learn her secrets there?
In the inner sanctum?
Should I Dare?

In the inner sanctum of my broken heart
there's a place still beating that is set apart.

for Lainie...
