A Highway Halloween

Wearing a midnight black track suit
White and yellow tapes on boots
Them lines on the road
Tiny cars stuck as a code
With road signs would look real cute

Premium Member beware of biblioklepts

Libraries put biblioklepts on wanted posters
In workrooms next to aluminum coffee pots and toasters
So, the librarians will not check these felons out
Because they steal books and tapes without a doubt

Premium Member Dick and Jane

Jane says that
Old Dick is dead
Along with painting
And the guitar

That technology
Has replaced them
And put them in storage,
IN museums and on digital tapes

But that when
The technology is down
She prays
That Old Dick
Will show up

Tapes and Books

They're crowding me out,
Tape, books, I live in
Three square feet,
My collecting days,
Led to my defeat.

Stuttered Speech

Stuttered speech

There was once a man, let’s call him Fitch,
He bought tapes that in sleep Spanish teach,
Tapes skipping during night,
The plan failed to play right,
And his Spanish was a stuttered speech.

5th Grade Crush

Strange,
But I've seen you
Everywhere lately.

Caramel colored
Girls, either you
or your daughter.

I'm not quite
Sure.

But I laugh inside.

The Challenger may
Have exploded, but
We didn't.

The cassette tapes
May have been lost.

But not the smiles,
the cupcakes,
the ruler,
and what was most important.

This awakening
Of listening to tapes
And viewing my life in verse

This strength not to rage
But to reflect for guide posts
For detours lurking
For words to be wary of
The very cost of thoughts I've beheld
Of moves I have choreographed;

I now know of ease, and courage
Not forgetting to regret... .

Ready Or Not

The clouds make shapes
When you’re looking
When you’re not

Echoes in tapes
Once recorded
Now forgot

Water escapes
from high cliffs
That’s its plot

Leaves leave by breeze
Red in autumn
Sun burns hot

Moments like these
Take torrid flight
Then they flock

Doing what they please
When you’re looking
When you’re not

Premium Member Life With Trump Xix

This is meant to be read with a French accent to aid the rhyme scheme:

WikiLeaks has tapes with Assange
Where Donald asks Vlad to arrange
More Russian hookers
Who are the best lookers
To pee and tint Trump’s hair orange

Author's note: His die hard supporters should be required to die their hair orange too. At least that would be funny.

An Old Saying

Remember the message
on video home system tapes
"Be Kind, Please Rewind",

Though VHS tapes are an
invention of the past
Kindness still has to last;

"Be kind, please rewind"
Keep the next person in mind

"Be kind, please rewind"
Consider the next person in line

VHS tapes are fading from memory
but don't you forget the saying:
Be kind, please rewind...

Norm

outside the norm
but an inside part
over their lines
but inside my heart

not going to let others
decide what's right for me
the books and tapes
discussing thoughts and feelings

gonna live outside the rules
of typical behavior
an aggregate response
a taste I'm gonna savor

outside the norm
but an inside part
crossing over their lines
but listening to my heart

Do you remember the good old days,
records,8 tracks and tapes
peanuts in your cola
cards in your spokes and easy bakes.

Kids knew the meaning no,
going outside was safe
hiding seek was so much fun
I know you can relate

Lights out meant just that,
we ate what was made
and grew up just fine
better than they do today.

Men Have Always Wooed Me

men have always wooed me with music
songs concerts mixed tapes and cds
boxes and buckets and tickets of music
a hand extended listen to this so you know
what I'm
trying to say

men have always wooed me with music
the sweetest way into my heart
when its so hard impossible to say how your feeling
or what you wish could be
do you know how I feel
when I hear this
song?

I feel like I love you

Premium Member We Do Not Need to Lock our Doors

We have no surveillance tapes
No ring doorbell to capture strangers or friends
Our house could be unlocked day, night and on weekends
Our dogs like the inside door open
So, they can look out the glass door on the outside
Our dog doors are open twenty-four seven
So, critters can get in if they need to
They do not stay long
Our dogs are the size of ponies
Which is also why we never have to lock our doors

Can Spiders Surf the Web

Can spiders surf the web?
Do cows like livin' in a shed?
Are housemice ever homeless?
Do snakes like bein' boneless?
Why cant toads cross the roads?
Why do sheep help you sleep?
Who do dogs like chasin' logs?
Why do birds have white turds?
Why do horses run round courses?
Can badgers lick their tadgers?
Why are deer so full of fear?
Whether apes like juicy grapes?
And why do flies like sticky tapes?

Premium Member The times they are a-changin

I have the vinyl the tapes and c ds
Now I can stream whenever I please
There one in the pile, one I adore
One that meant much and now even more
For when I was young
it was just a sweet song
But now I am old and I got it all wrong
For who could imagine what we would live through
And now for our children and grandchildren too
So will those who can , will they answer the call?
For if’n they don’t
then God help us all.

Smoke and Mirrors

Amid the flux
Of shimmering sound and vision
Someone is lying
Is it your eyes
Is it your ears
Is it those pulling the levers
And splicing the tapes
Or is it all of the above?

In the end
It’s not the lying that matters
Since that’s what senses
And people do
It’s the believing
That will get you in trouble
Every time.

Relishing Corpses

We see them in old movies,
aged sitcoms –
black and white
or fading color.

We hear ancient languages—
dead voices on sound tracks,
buried giggles, awkward squawks
of unexpected laughter.

We relish corpses—
old friends,
remembered relatives
stiff in brown photographs.

Reels creak, VHS tapes moan,
DVDs hum silently
with sprocket holes,
white scratches in sky,
burnt nitrate edges of night.

We relish corpses.

They are us.

Music

Most beautiful thing in the world
Uniqueness in audio form
Synthesized or guitar driven
Intelligent or dance worthy
Cd's, eight tracks, tapes, and now DVDs
Acoustic or piano
Leveling enemies to a common likeness
Love songs or hate anthems
You know you love it

Enthusiastic but not
Crazy admirer
Love for all types
Even guilty pop pleasures
Connecting with different people
Typically
Informing others of a message
Crazy about everything music

Moviemanier

My mother is a kind of person on the planet
Who cannot watch movies on tv or the internet
Because she thinks they're real.

I tell her of the video shoots
And say it's just a movie.
She leans back and at me she hoots
'My boy don't be a rookie'.

And so I linger with the rest
Of borrowed video tapes.
Mama home like a house arrest
My mocking brother gapes.

I still can't watch Spartacus,
Vampire Diaries nor Nikita.
Daily we watch In Focus
From Voice of America.
