Nevermore!
Fear, fear, go away
Live life to the fullest every day!

Why the deer in the headlights look?
Am anything but a crook!

So strike up the band
God is in command!...

Tall and Strong
Stand up to the gale
You know you cannot fail
Tall and strong
All along
Strike up the band
The win will be as planned
Don’t cry
You’ll get by.

darkness approaches
your time is at hand!

bullfrogs arise!

Strike Your Note
The road I have travelled
has brought me here.

My shoes worn
my clothes torn

Mistakes I have made
along the way

Lessons learned
Love beckoned

A song in my heart
You in my arms

Strike up the band...

Strike Up the Band
If one is wrong
and the other one is right
the choice should be easy,
but why then the inner fight?

We choose
and then we second guess,
what if we chose wrong
and really made a great mess!

We know deep down
the choice we made
will bring us joy -
like a summer parade....

Premium Member I'M Going Home
I'm going home to
Belize of my birth
Beat the drums
My fathers fashioned
Honk the horns
My brothers firmly hold
Strike up the band,
All a we da one.

I am home!
Not alone
You, me, everybody,
We make up this land
Generations strong
By the almighty sea,
East of our Belize.

Here Comes the Sun
At a hospital in the United States
When someone beats the virus fates
They play “Here comes the Sun”
 A Beatles standard grandly done

The words hold a meaning for those
Struck down by the Covid 19 who rose
Why wouldn’t you strike up the band
Praising the sun when it shines for you again.

Live Just Right
I want to live life just right
I don’t want to fuss around or fight
The time has come to strike up my band
This very moment is in my hand

Forget about yesterday for it is past
I’m not reliving things others want to last
One thing about getting older now
Is there is less of the guilt or wondering how.

Wee Music
The soft blue fairies sail on azure wings,
All embellished with flower rings
And garments of woven weeds.

Without a sound they come down from above
To the mossy carpet ground they love,
On their tiny blue fairy-winged steeds.

And then they sing and strike up their band,
And dance around, hand-in-hand,
As they blow on their fluted reeds....

Depression
Okay, Okay, enough with this, I am sick and tired of hearing all this depression. It
is time to cheer up. Strike up the band. We are going to sing a song, (crickets
chirp). What is with you people. Is there no joy to be found in any of your souls.
Now come on and play a game with me, I spy (more crickets). Okay fine wallow
in your self pity. I am going someplace else....

Nonsensical Poem
argy fargy targy dargy
yankee doodle dandy
now it's time for us to sing
we all want some candy
strike up the band
and let it roar
for all of us
we just want more

argy fargy targy dargy
lets all do a dance
let's hop and skip and run l
and let us all learn how to prance
each and everyone of us
even the man in the sailor's hat

The man in the sailor's hat
sits down to tell a tale
and make us dream
the happy dream
of
argy fargy targy dargy...

To the Soupers
Sometimes I wonder what I'd do
If I didn't have soup and I didn't have you?
When the night is dark and the stars are gone
I sit right down and the computers on!

The more amazing things that I see
You're from France, Spain, hey Germany!
Writing poetry from far far away
Yet able to post the very same day!

And the lines you write are oh so grand
Thrills me enough to strike up the band!
Let's stay together til the very end
Always and forever my soup friend!

Premium Member Some Say
Some say the most honorable thing one can do,
Is to lay down one's life,
for a friend.
That is only a blip on the timeline of eternity.
I would say,
the greater gift,
is to give a friend's spirit,
a much needed lift.
To finally walk hand in hand,
anywhere in this great land,
surely will strike up a band.
Then music the balm for loneliness,
sorrow, and hopelessness,
will be played all night,
making the gift right as rain.
Given to relieve the accumulated,
 and deepest pain....
