The earthworm molds the earth
Canker worms feed slowly
The truth in nature confirms

Be The Bear

Bold aromas stir me,
Beckoning me to seek.
Blessed cubs sleep, protected.
Brazen mother, stands guard.
Brutality, dormant.
Benevolent and aware.

Gifted with senses sharp,

the sure guide, faithful dog.

Animal Owl

Hoot hoot goes the owl
perpetual in disguise.
Resting on a twig he scowls
furred up in brown and white.
This superb bird stands wise,
in a forest filled with light.

Sheep Guide

Written for Spirit Animal Poetry Contest by Nette Onclaud on 26th September, 2025. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Had I to be a guide, I’d lead a herd of sheep, from dawn to dusk I'd keep watch, steady with patient strides, through fields of blooming green, sharing the winds of their peace.

Premium Member Fawn is her Spirit Animal

At day break, Commanche maiden wanders to the river
Solemn silence greets her, then a tiny flick in the water
Brother catfish, she guesses,
Movement to the west

She turns and meets the eyes of a fawn
The creature is here to give her a lesson
She listens the best she can
For fawn is her spirit animal
She has much to learn

Premium Member Decision of Jesus

Jesus knelt at the feet of his spirit animal
feeling His Father’s approval and strength
Recognizing the difficulties of the tests he would undergo
But rising to the challenge, as easily as any lion
his spirit guide gave him the nod, approving his decision
to remain on earth, be crucified and reborn
in order to save worldly souls.

Premium Member Felicia Fox Feeder

Felicia the fox feeder became a mother of five
When their sainted fox mother was no longer alive
Their mother’s spirit sat in the trees and watched Felicia though
Thrilled she treated her kits with love that continued to grow
She was Felicia’s spirit animal from that moment until forever.
When did she abandon her? Never, and I mean never.

Premium Member Her Totem Was An Owl

Wyandotte princess sent her favored owl out to the camps
she trusted his council, he would come back with a plan
a link between her ancestors and her offspring,
an ancient wise entity, in the form of a hoot owl
he would be full of ideas,
she allowed herself to dream
knowing this is how he would convey
the plan to save her tribe from the marauders

Premium Member Tried To Save a Honey Bee

tried to save a honeybee
three times yesterday
heard him buzzing
he was close
maybe in my paintbrush towel
discovered him upside down
on one of my canvases
had he gotten stuck in paint?
captured him in a cottage cheese carton
using heavy paper underneath
took him outside three times for release
was amazed each time when he was not there
up on the moment of release
a spirit animal?
possibly

Premium Member Winter Wolf Sees Me Through

Winter wolf sees me through,
Guarding me with sheer love,
Fending off the pack,
Making sure I am nurtured

Understanding my pain,
Soothing me in ways only he can.
Keeping me away from others,
Keeping me safe.

Winter wolf, my best spirit animal,
Comes to me in my dreams,
Assures me all will be great
If I follow my heart

He keeps me in his sights,
Day and night,
Guarding me with sheer love
Fending off the pack.

I feel loved.

Spirit Animal-Wolf

He is not of this world
Living between the dream and spirit world
Crossing both borders he does
You can feel his presence
He runs with spirits
Seeking you in dreams
Fear not his appearance
For he is just a visitor
In this world you will find him
In the shadows of the full moon night
Woooooo you will hear his cry
Answer and you may learn
The secrets of the world in which he lives
Open you heart and find
The kindness you never thought existed
For he knows what lies on both sides

Premium Member Giving Cobbie a Wide Berth

Celia was a white witch, but others did not know
They avoided her greenhouse, said she gave a show
Every spell she did with a flourish, for goodness sake
Real reason they stayed away was Cobbie, her extra large snake

Cobbie was her spirit animal, her mentor, her familiar, her muse.
He looked like he could crush and devour giant men by threes and twos.
He was actually a kind-hearted snake, who protected Celia daily.
I always gave him a wide berth, tiptoeing around him gingerly.

Premium Member a sincere prayer for white wolf woman

May the healing mother give your heart peace
May the forgiving father watch over you as you sleep
May your spirit animal, the deer, issue you much needed comfort
May your totem, the turtle, show you the way to health

May your sweat lodge sisters pray that your cancer dissipates
May your family dream of better times and ways to help you through this
May your body push out the bad, and inhale the better greater good
May our prayers help you through this trying time, White Wolf Woman
