By the Teak rail
Of a salt weathered deck
A poetic death you see…
Wrap’t snug as a bug
Warm woolen shawl round my neck
With my ol’ grizzled dog at my knee
I’d like to be found
Eyes wide open and round
In a rocker of wicker
Gazing out to sea.
What better a death
An ol’ poet’s last breath
Could there possibly

Thunder is rolling like our souls up
here in heaven, Ever wonder where the
lights come from, Its a switch without
a hitch for us to make a plea of forgivness.
Yes we might shudder from the thunder
late at night but know were snug as a bug
in our beds.
Tonights the night the rains come
pouring down to wash away all our sins
away, So enjoy much delights while in
your flight of peace and harmony and
remember we're all on lease

Many times, when queried, I reply “I’m okay,”
not going into detail I’ve little to say.
But one Lady senses things aren’t snug as a bug,
and she always gives me a comforting hug.
Another can’t discern what I might need,
until such time I’ve chosen some details to concede.
Many times I’ve hidden things troubling my mind,
I’m as brush strokes on canvas, left unsigned.
Screams in vain, in the dead of night
Pigtail braids and gown of white
It mattered not, how loud she yelled
Snug as a bug, no cries availed
Mom had tucked her safe in bed
These terrors lived inside her head
The boogie man, alive and well
Inside her dreams, he would prevail
A coward preying on her mind
Not strong enough to get outside
They quickly dismissed, the little girl
Telling tales of a scary world
They only knew, of what they saw
A handsome man, dark and tall
