Such trying times, these are
You just never know
What might occur during them,

Is anyone safe?
Are you able to eat?
Are you able to survive?
Who’s caught it?
What shall we do?
Is anybody actually afflicted?

There’s a chance,
Though perhaps just as likely
As the salutary rains
Pouring in the Atacama.

Though heartbreaking it is
Realizing that nobody,
Absolutely not a living soul,
Can even put forth the effort
To realize the truth
That encircles all of us....
