Premium Member Fear
Retirees' number one fear ---
   Will I outlive my money?

Premium Member Porches
On porches bathed in brilliant sun
enduring friendships are begun.

On moonlit porches, arm in arm,
sweethearts display romantic charm.

On countless porches you will find
retirees resting weary minds....

SSA
I’ve worked for years and
Had to put up with being
Mistreated, favoritism and
Unfairness in order to
Make a living and pay my bills
I am now of retirement age
To find out the money
I paid out is now in jeopardy
It’s my money, don’t touch it

About Time
Time is such a luxury,
More valuable than wealth,
Especially when partnered with
The better side of health.

Retirees, possessing both,
May find themselves afraid
That any moment their good fortune
May begin to fade.

So we should cram what time we have
With joy from dusk ‘til dawn,
For we may learn, quite suddenly,
Our stash is overdrawn....

You and Me

So many vehicles

So many journeys

So many destinations

So many countries

Exploring life

Side by Side

From teenagers to parents to retirees

Copious conversations

Decisions made

Disagreements

Abundant laughter

Grief

Rivers of tears

Music throughout the decades

Silly songs sung

Coffees aplenty

So many years

Side by Side

Exciting Times
Exciting times
This last stage of my life.
The end of my working days
Have come near.
Nine to five grind
Is now falling behind.
The days ahead
Speak of sleeping in.
No one’s schedule but my own.
Relaxing in the sunshine
With my coffee cup.
Or in the warm evening breeze,
Glass of wine in my hand.
Conversation and laughter
With fellow retirees.
A life well deserved
After all these years....

Unknowing
this upscale retirees' resort
       gives him a magnificent view
                of sunrises and of sunsets,

of tides that ebb and flow;
but these have not made him
               ponder, as anyone charmed

by Nature might, on why he has
been freely given this one life,
as all others also have been,

for reasons never apparent,
      for purposes neither known
             nor slightly knowable at all....

Three Day Weekend
For those who work, a three day weekend
Feels like a reward,
The culmination of a goal
That they’ve been working toward.

It’s just one extra day and yet,
It feels like so much more,
A chance to catch up on the things
On workdays, they’d ignore.

But even for the unemployed
And, too, retirees,
A holiday on Monday
Somehow really seems to please.

So happy weekend, one and all;
Enjoy this little break.
Forgetting why the day is free, though,
Would be a mistake....

Relinquishing the time clocks of the past,
Emerging from the glory and the grind,
Transformed throughout those years that went so fast,
Inspired by dreams, you leave those days behind.
Rebirth awaits with chances fresh and new.
Embark upon bold journeys; bravely go.
Ephemeral, sweet life still beckons you,
So plant your seeds and watch your future grow.

Premium Member Christmas Cards Came In Today
Christmas cards came in today in three’s.
Silvery stars with love from Lu, if you please.
Three-D firehouse popup arrived from two,
Massachusetts retirees, pretty sweet too!
One photo card from my cousin also named Lou.
Three beautiful cards, made Thursday feel fine.
I have to smile because they are all three mine.
Michigan card my favorite by far.
With snowman, love, and a silver star.
So nice to feel love from a poet friend far away,
One I have known less than two years and a day....
