Requiting Lilly

Pastoral heart of drifting swain
Seeking fair lilly my field requite
Thick clover only passive streams drain
Silt each furrow with frilly delights
Cloak jade meadow with fecund light

The Fall of Macbeth

March forth Macduff, your sword to smite. The head of a king for your requite! Ten years he has reigned with innocence feigned. Greed and slaughter his ultimate blight!

Temporality

Riches
of this earth seem
infinite..yet human
greed and selfishness never bring
requite
for
treasures
of this world still
tempt and tantalise with
their illusions...yet rarely bring
delight.

The times are few and far between
When I just play and you just sing
And in those times, at least for me
Exist tacit moments of pure esprit
Did you ever have the perfect day,
One that you didn't want to fade away?
If I could freeze a moment there
I'd save it for my future fare
Recalling to my heart's delight
While never having to requite

First Sight

Hark, what force formidable of a creature That proceeds thy self is this?
Reckon and wreckin' my heart
Doth not hath resist !
Dawn to Dusk my soul requite,
Waining and waxing far from slumbering relaxed respite.
Ill-fated mine heart was from the start,
That worn it was on thy sleeve everyday,
Forelorned my touchstone ever so frayed,
And so it came to pass,
Time would not erode the memory
Of your gentle smile ever-last.

Pure Love

Amazing, His grace falls across my soul Lifting me up, stirring such perfect light Assuring me of One who will console Breathing hope into me so I’m alright He silences all doubt so I feel whole Yearning for love that will always requite Listen to His whisper – gentle peace This wonder of pure love will never cease OTTAVA RIMA Poetry Contest Sponsored by: L MILTON HANKINS September 4, 2022

Springtime

What a beautiful woman I have the pleasure to know
And to give all my love to, although I can't show
It outwardly, maybe one day
The chance will come and to her face I can say
That I love her, that she means the world to me
And she would hug me and kiss me and I would then be
Floating on petals, living my dream
If you looked in my eyes you'd notice a gleam
And the birds would be singing and my world would be right
For I found my companion now who can requite

Your Heart Is of Fresh

There I stood faint-hearted at the mercy
Of your requite.

Hearing that rumbling thunder
In my mind
I plucked a red rose that withered
Straightaway as my spreadable disquiet
Infested it
Left, centre, right
In my desperate quest to stop the storm
I felt bubbling up, bubbling up, in you.

Oh! I nearly fainted to get it that there was no rainstorm
Building up but a warm welcoming heart

On that day I would have you crucified
If the wrong was against me.

Mythical, Menacing Crow

Black spright as dark as night
Dark wizard eclipsing the light
Menacing vandal from perch alight
With guile give wing to flight
All of the airy spirits to spite
Your jealous suitors with envy requite
Spread ebony cape; your brigand kite
From eerie heights with steely eyes blight
With devilish caw a quaking fear incite
With razor-sharp talons ignite the sparring fight
With sharpened beak your helpless foe smite
Then with callous indignity glide over rendered plight
