The Last Page

My mind is still active as I enter old age But my body is revolting, uh let me rephrase Could be a better word Like “poop” or “turd” My body is getting very close to the last page

A Banana a Day

A banana a day keeps the doctor away You swing through the trees, no matter your weight Well let me rephrase that A sturdy tree that's fat Else a nasty concussion and lacerations await

Foot-In-Mouth

Sometimes I'm a victim of “foot-in-mouth” disease Let me rephrase that, OFTEN a victim, down on my knees No man is perfect Mean no disrespect Being human is the fault, life has no guarantees

An Adonis Like Me

Just because every woman that looks at me Wants me to ravish her, take her over my knee Well let me rephrase that Ninety percent is more accurate It sure can be challenging for an adonis like me

Like a Greek Adonis

Just because every woman that looks at me Wants me to ravish her, till she can no longer see Well let me rephrase that Ninety percent is more accurate It sure can be challenging for an Adonis like me

In Poems, In Prayers, In Courage

When you are down, let it pass by.
Do nothing. Let words bleed in imagery
Speak nothing. Let silence float away..
Rephrase nothing. Let wisdom break the clichés within.

When you are down, let it pass by.
In poems, in prayers, in courage.

Giving Thanks

how privileged
are we
living on the lap of luxury
let me rephrase
we don’t have excess money
but we have enough
to help out
which often
gets us
into situations
but still
it feels like the lap of luxury
because our needs are few

My Poisons Paint My Sins

I have yet to admit it to myself,

But it reads so clearly off my face;

Leaving me to rephrase-

And attempt to keep my pace.

I trace,

The wordless letters-

That have long tainted my skin;

Refusing to surrender-

But my poisons paint my sins,

As the ink thins-

And the walls around me start to spin.

One Wish

One Wish
I was young
I was stupid
If i had one wish
i’d wish to undo it
but i’ve realized i can’t spend my time
dwelling
on what could have been
and what wasn’t all because we couldn’t
fix our communication
he is the one boy i would have loved
and if you’re reading
All we needed was trust
I have loved you
no
let me rephrase that
I would have loved you
more than the sun loves the sea
If only you had let me

Beautiful Bride

I stood at the tower of my heart
And looked upon the remains of my broken dreams...
Cold and numb I feel
Is there anything left to heal?
Loneliness pierces me like a dagger
Loosing my strength I begin to stagger
What has become of me?
There is pain in everything I see
What should I rephrase?
What must I embrace?
I shall fight my misery;
For I am a woman of destiny
My tears I shall wipe aside
To the Lord, I am always a beautiful bride...

Who Dares

Who Cares?!

They see horrible things happen!
They observe and take no action.
Their sick defense is who cares!?
Let me rephrase it: who dares!?
You stop caring, you stop feeling!
You stop feeling, you lose meaning!
What is life like without meaning?
Worthless, sterile, and demeaning!
What is life like without caring?
What is life like without sharing?
Fake ideals and false pretensions!
Hell incarnate with good intentions!

Re-Think

RE-THINK

Self-reflection rather than global critique;
Not better or worse—individuals unique
Searching solutions, as opposed to blame.
Fostering what is right, instead of the same.
Focus on traits that are strong;
More than what is wrong.
Words to rephrase—
Such as never and always.
Uncover all or nothing thought—
Must, should, have to, ought.
Things beyond control, versus choices elective
When negative things happen—finding perspective.

Let Me Rephrase That

First Corinthians
chapter twelve verse twenty-five:
Care! (undivided!)

in tilling a field,
there's as much dignity as
in writing a poem!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Adapted from quote by Booker T. Washington:
"No race can prosper till it learns that there is
as much dignity in tilling a field as in writing a poem."
With reference to 1 Cor. 12:12-31
As noted in the Bible commentary entitled,
"AFRICAN AMERICAN: The Body of Christ"
in The Catholic Youth Bible
