Snowy Meadow In March
Delicate layer
Refracts in the brazen blue.
Light, frozen in time....

between the words, silence spills, refracts
while a shadow trace the void you left
roots-entwined earth – too sacred to disturb
as arum lilies recall your grace

Uniformity
X. Uniformity

Crystalline lattice refracts owing none.

To this all is owed.

To this brings new light.

To some it rests on the horizon.

To others it sets.

To all it renews.

To many ever out of reach.

Premium Member Teardrops
Raindrops refract sunlight to form
A rainbow
A teardrop refracts sunlight to form
A colored bubble
So,when l see teardrops
Running down your cheek
I would say
Don't cry baby
Cheer up
I have seen a teardrop
With a colorful rainbow
(a bright tomorrow)...

Grieving the Shift
Time passes, conversation and music ends,
light refracts, shimmers in water, bends.
Nails grow, hair lengthens, heads turn and bones break,
stems wilt, gardens overgrow, clouds regurgitate water from lake.
I know that things change, the erratic constant that needs be,
but this loss of you I can’t fathom, grieving the shift from us to just me....

Premium Member Narrow margins
| From lack of reason, to quotients of densest space
| Through the iris of an eye, voids are commonplace
| Stubborn pervasive doubt, projects across the face
| Reassured again when mindsets find a bright place
| Still if one can’t see god, photons will bring a trace
| Filtered through life’s prism, heaven refracts apace

Premium Member The Water
Water takes the shape of any container
Like an innocent child
Refractions in water
Look bigger and shallower
Like an illusion of the imagery world
Water absorbs any pollution
Like a stupid man
Water flows from the top to the bottom
Like the refugee
Water comes in ripples, waves, rain
Rivers, sea, lakes, and waterfalls
Like the various characters of man...

Within Sight
Sun refracts through window, raising sight
See her standing within my gazing sight

Dry timbers lay in a pile awaiting spark
Fire ignites heartfelt joy in blazing sight

Lying on our backs to enjoy each night
Watch evening’s moon, each phasing sight

Noises abound through warm walls of home
Children amassed at play, a crazing sight

A life that could only have been imagined
Started one day with an amazing sight...

Premium Member Midnight Sepulcher
Twilight tickles the moonlit canopy,
Where stars poke holes in the parchment sky,
And darkness slips into entropy,
As the Earth rounds the morning nigh.

The sun refracts what light it's given up,
To the moon who ricochets its gift,
And the planets before the belt lineup,
To cause a cosmic shift.

This is the midnight sepulcher,
In which our minds spelunk,
Into a cavernous awoken sepulture,
As into dreams we've dunk....

Paradise Lost
you piece together
the broken shards
but cut yourself
on the secured heart

quickly it all slips
grasping at straws
not enough time
forgotten fatal flaws

smoke clears away
circus mirror refracts
the image not clear
when you look back

sleight of hand failed
magician bag of tricks
illusion that forsakes
mortality too quick

your destiny fools
thought it was tied down
paradise lost
free falling to the ground...

("Cheek to Cheek", 2024, original encaustic)

Key to the Highway

Everybody knows
Deep down in their bones
That what you see
Is what you get

The mind being a
Conditional thing
Adopts, adapts,
reflects, refracts

Whatever it is
We focus upon
Be it heaven
Or be it hell

So remember this
As you make your way
That what you see
Is what you get

But what you look for
Now there
Is the key

Premium Member Spring Allure
It has warmed to seventy degrees,
I lounge in a field of white daisies;

Composing fresh prose in solitude
longer days create a brighter mood;

The rain leaves dew drops on petals,
a seasonal smile blooms and settles;

Dramatic downpour soaks my hair
it sticks to my face without a care;

Grim grey meets a thunderous glow,
light refracts now a stormy rainbow;

Jovial this sky will always nurture,
that is the essence of Spring allure....
