Naked Eyes.

Before this bewitching gaze, alas,
let me be the one to quieten
and love you the more.

Premium Member DUSK ON THE LAKE

Dusk leans low on the silver lake,
soft ripples quieten the day’s heartache
each fading gleam a vow to make,
              night gathering light’s last refrain.

Fortitudes Ardour

Could you blame the American dream
Plastic coast to coast
A Harlequin pawns himself
Enterprise gone mad
Ply the rebop
The spirit of 1973
Corporate Lawyer loathed to tell the truth
A confident already foretold
Fortitudes' ardour
doomed to quieten itself

Quieten mind and gentle the senses,
focus animated, poised in the void,
living in the now, not in past tenses,
no longer by stuporous thoughts decoyed,
shining as the Self, pure and unalloyed.
Let this then be the practice we adopt,
living authentically as we ought.

Premium Member Consciousness shift

Come, come now, let’s quieten mind,
shifting to heart, tranquil and kind.
Thought is the playground of ego,
temptations that are best declined.

Fears and desires here now let go
and all attachments too forgo,
seeking nothing but God alone,
that within our heart, love may grow.

Dark Room Mush Room Grew Into a Beautiful Flower

In a quieten hidden corner

In a dark and danken room

Where mushrooms alone
we're meant to grow

An ugly duckling

Swanned

And out of the fog and wetting mist

A solitary flower one day did grow

And bring to bare

A shrinking violet

Placing 1st in the county show

And grew on to be mamed

QUEEN OF ALL OUR BETTER TOMORROW's

Child Insistence

Toy in the shape,
of a figurine,

Boy saw it,
and began to whine,

he had seen possibilities,
of frolic and fun,

he began insistence,
full throttle and gun,

he had an agenda,
different from parents,

knowing that,
he deepened his laments,

scared now for sure,
both became full aware,

that they had to quieten the guy,
so they simply bought the toy ware.

To Do List '23

Quieten the mind
dile it down a notch
drown those tears
neglect all fears
speak into existence
be as loud as the excuses
fight for justice
fight for peace,
grant your organs sexual liberty.
Dive in blue waters,
oceans sing songs of tranquility.
Dream, your big dreams
Live, purposefully.

Premium Member Cowley (1) I Got That ,Loving Feeling

Fill me once more,Holy Spirit to know,
Move me ,inside, you love to show,
Quieten my heart,now to play
Without rehearsal,on life's stage each phrase to say.

Speak,speak by thought,picture,word or deed,
Then in my weakness, your strength feed:
O teach my tomgue to quiet be,
Until you prompt, and all I say,is all of thee.

This quatrain was inspired by Abraham Cowley's (1618-67) 'Hymn to Light'

Premium Member The Two Swans

Two swans glide towards me,
their graceful movement
concealing the fury
of their paddling feet
as they slowly turn together
into the bright sun.
They seem to share
a common will.

The water is glass still.
I stand near to where the bank
falls away into its own image.
I come here often, alone,
trying to quieten the thoughts
no one else can see,
thrashing just below
that face mirrored in the water,
looking up at me.

Premium Member Four Ways

Four ways to stop your chihuahua from barking
Talk to them in a pleasant voice
Then you see you have no choice
One: Get your shotgun
Two: Load it with a shell or two
Three: You know this won't be fun
Four: Take them out behind the barn,
Just the sight of the gun
And the shakes have begun!!

The Chihuahuas are terrified of guns and most loud noises so they would quieten on down if someone got out the gun even run and hide.

Premium Member Angelic Harp In the Rain

angels cannot interfere with injustices
they witness in the mortal realm
their tears we know as drops of rain
may one day drown all and dishelm

angels in show of compassion
do play the harp and throw a rope
hoping those who quieten their heart
will hear their notes of love and hope

Premium Member Softening Attention

We look to scriptures to quieten mind, as affirmations are comforting, until we get to cessation, relinquishing lower mind. What remains is presence, unfettered, unbound, one with the flow, stillness slow, quiet now ~ thus gently here and now alive, aglow, with no agenda, save to savour flavour of the flow of life throbbing as we watch it’s pulse rise and fall; a dance beauteous beyond measure, spectacle of delight for each earth soul. 05-January-2021
