Notes About The Poem

Four Ways

Four ways to stop your chihuahua from barking
Talk to them in a pleasant voice
Then you see you have no choice
One: Get your shotgun
Two: Load it with a shell or two
Three: You know this won't be fun
Four: Take them out behind the barn,
Just the sight of the gun
And the shakes have begun!!

The Chihuahuas are terrified of guns and most loud noises so they would quieten on down if someone got out the gun even run and hide.

Interesting: I think you could substitute most living organisms for 'chihuahua' (and whatever substitute is appropriate for 'barking') here. ~ Shaky Sam

Gershon, Teachers took away our recessive to get us to cooperate with them, be quiet, sit still, do our work, etc. So yes it can be used with any living organism I am sure. I would not even pull out the gun. If I get out the broom, duster, or the vacuum, the Chihuahuas try to escape to another room and stay until I finish the chore. I don't know why they are afraid of the duster. Thanks for dropping by. Sara

Hi Sara, I didn't expect your “ways” to stop them from barking to be so brutal. Their barks must be beyond annoying. I enjoyed the humorous touch;-) Alexis

Alexis, I have rewritten it a little to change the ending. I hope this helps it be not so vicious. Thanks for dropping by. Sara

They can be pretty loud. Pound for pound the most fierce dog on the planet. *lol*.

Richard, They say that more people go to the ER for Chihuahua bites than any other breed. My male will bite me, scratch me and seems to enjoy it. My skin is now very thin and I bruise and bleed often from his antics ..Thanks for dropping by. All of this is not funny when it is happening but I can laugh about it later. Just glad they are not German Shepherds or Rottweilers. Sara

You forgot #5: Go plumb deaf! lol. That'll make the little fellow bark even louder too. Who's the joke on?! -- Not quite sure. :) gw

Gershon, I have never shot a shotgun but I remember when my father did and it was loud inside the house. I won't shoot the dog nor would I want anyone else to do so. I would let them be put down humanly if possible. I would rather they die in their sleep one night from natural causes than having to be put down. Thanks for dropping by with your interesting review. Take the dog to some dog's home and get a quieter one.

Victor, My female is a very good natured dog. She will bark but only if she knows something is outside like Fed-Ex, UPS, the US mail service, a stranger, my children coming home for a visit, etc. The male will bark at any little thing. Someone put him out here soon to be 6 years ago. I have tried really hard to take care of him and love him but he is not an easy dog. Sara

Kim, I could never shoot the dog. Sometimes though the barking is just awful. This morning I got up early to have some time to myself and big dog came down ran around the porch and set the chihuahuas off. My day just became a real tense situation. Thanks for stopping by. Sara
