Irony

President Beji Caid Essebsi
The octogenarian who by a miraculous gamble in policy
Fancied he restored enduring stamina
Escalated power to preside over poor Tunisia.

Verum Tamen---Verum Est

The Self, Free Will, and Love…
  today’s three illusions of life

Without just one our lives negate,
  a charlatan’s delight

For the Self to Love most Freely,
  this Holy Trinity must preside

What Plato ordained and Kant reframed
—modern thought tries most to hide

Presides

So I'll go sick. It's just a little bit.
I try to be honest. I try to be straight.
I can't force myself to concentrate.
It's lucky thank God I have pride.
                       For now I will preside.

When It Is Hot

When it is hot, then I am not
Exactly at my best.
When temps do climb, I know that I'm
Depleted of my zest.

And I will flee humidity
If I can go inside
And pump the air to numbers where
Some coolness can preside.

Let tanners sweat but you can bet
I won't be in the sun
And I've no guilt for I just wilt
Until the heat wave's done.

Colours

My life is full of colours;
of reds and greens and blues.
But overwhelming all the rest,
one colour does preside.

A cold harsh black that's always there
It never goes away.
It draws from me my energy,
and my will to live.

My life is full of colours;
of darkening shades of grey.
I really cannot cope with this,
this grey and black disease.

Art of Wrinkles

The finess of palm
Is marred by wrinkles
Through gold finger;
They sink into designer suit,
Emerge from the collar,
They intertwine into a dense web
Of confusion, lies,deceit, hate;
The eyes are like marbles,
Age stinks like death
Worse still without reason,
Yet he still finds season
To preside over an oppressed
And dispossessed people.

They've no doctors to alleviate pain
nor nutritionists to stem weight gain

No carpenters to build them a domicile
or dealers to sell them an automobile

Neither bakers to bake them a birthday cake
nor ministers to preside over their wakes...

Forest creatures, left to their own wiles
find organic ways to overcome life’s trials

When We Care about Others Horn Haiku

"what we should have done
when caring about others
better they will be"

there are those we need
who will preside while they lead
which with have agreed

when you stick out hand
will receive love from the land
which has seemed so grand

her favorite quotes
she had picked up through the years
will never forget

These are her favorite quotes.

Blink No 3

Jensen plays to the skinless drum
Ten chocolate soldiers melt down
by the campside
Platitudes of the night
crimson altar affairs preside

I have forgotten your face
wish i was a pram
under full moon
grateful to be the new born
like a newly hatched larvae

An urbane man chased by
bedraggled beagles
Forget the rest
cruelty at its own behest
treads to grey

Another Victim

As I look into the sky,
The darkness starts to preside,
The clouds fading,
As it starts raining.

I try to sleep,
To feel complete,
My soul fades,
Into the graves.

The sun shines,
On the open sky,
I start to shiver,
My life flashed by.

The birds start singing,
I awake and realize i was only dreaming,
To see myself still breathing.

Another day,
Another hour,
Another life has just devoured.

Vice

I drink rivers of rum
for an unquenchable thirst,
or a hope that I may drown.

I build castles out of dreams
for some temporary glory,
or to preside over their ashes.

I love, like a Victorian loon,
for knowing no other way to feel,
or to revel in a shattered heart.

I give away everything I possess
for nothing, for indifference,
or because I’m a self-righteous bastard.

I write poetry in tattered notebooks
for you, or for no one at all.

When the Snow Falls In

When the snow falls in
the roads will be blocked
So cross over now
before it's too late

Take yourself away
grow in isolation
Greet the Sun, love the moon
and live with the nature

You will rise and shine
brighter than them all
Your fire will be fiercer
your will stronger, your strength unmatched

Your beauty aglow, your desires awakened
burning through your heart, raging through your mind
The demons shall leave
and your will shall preside

A Falling Leaf

A falling leaf, etched in gold
     Followed me this morning
And as it floated to the earth,
     All the while adorning
I remembered many reasons
Of why I love the fall
It’s the tapestry of color
That I dote on most of all

With hues approaching scarlet
     Golden ochre by its side
A resplendent matrimony
     Will once again preside

So with each leaf of umber
     Carried by a rustling breeze
I relish nature’s beauty
      In its seasonal reprise

A Valentine's Day Poem

A thousand words in my mind
With which should I begin?
How I wish I had the time
I would've expressed how I feel within

I will liken you to Monalisa
'cause your beauty is unfading
And my love to a river
'cause it is unending

You are the one I see
In my dreams while I'm sleeping
You've captured my heart
And you preside over my thinking

I can't tell if it is love
But what else could be this strong?
That should explain how much I long
To love you this valentine's day

Bonkers You Say

Of Straight Jacket University
LaLa Land to prove it

Top of my class
A+ grade student
Mad as a hatter
Failed every test with honours

So who better qualified than i
to be elected President elect

And preside over a parliament
of tea party fairytale characters

And to provide me with the allusion
of appearing sane

And invoke an insanity plea defense
