Reflection
Stare into the mirror
Through a single pane of glass
Be aware of reflection
For the image will soon pass...

cat lies on her back,
lounging on the window seat...
a thin pane of glass

Premium Member A Glimmer of Hope
Trickling raindrops run down a pane of glass; where a lit candle offers travelers a glimmer of hope, on a stormy night. This flicker of light lures passing strangers; promising shelter, food and merriment; awaits them within the warm embrace of this welcoming inn.

Premium Member Rain Drops
the rain drops spuratically
hitting every pane of glass
till all is wet to touch
the rain pours deeper now
splattering upon the grass
till it's too much
the rain a steady stream along the driveway crease
filling the drain
washing away the leaves of winter past
how many tears can angels cry over the world's mass?...

The Trees Outside
The trees outside my window
Are in their budding phase,
With newborn leaves and blossoms
In their early spring displays.

I gaze at them forlornly,
Behind a pane of glass
And hope they aren’t autumn-like
Before this all shall pass.

Though fall’s my favorite season,
Those rusts and golds, I think,
Won’t dazzle near as much without
Their prior greens and pink....

Premium Member Windows
Windows mask the loneliness of youth
gazing through a misted pane of glass
pawing at the wonder of escape
momentary cell mates face to face.

Windows mock the cold of autumn winds
cold dew that drips along the hoarfrost edge
smiley faces drawn on hazy view
a sunbeam aura slowly breaking through.

Premium Member Two Cats
She sits amongst the broom and vines
staring into my window.
Solemn and quiet, not moving at all,
on the side of the hill below.

She sits inside this pane of glass.
Her tail twitches as she spies
another cat in the yard below.
Each frozen, as eyes meet eyes.

Two cats watching. One in, one out.
A staring contest between the two.
Then softly the raindrops start to fall
and now ... the contest is through....

Wishes
Wish I was a snake slithering in the grass
or a big black spider on a pane of glass
Or a cobweb on the ceiling or a bug on the wall
a scarecrow in a field, ten feet tall
Wish I was a bee buzzing among the flowers
or a puppy in a puddle after a shower
I wish I was a rainbow up in the sky
or a bird, then away I would fly
But I'm just a little girl who wants to be
anything else. I just don't want to be me...

Premium Member Love Language
Reflection in a pane of glass
Beauty to behold
Screenshots in my mind amass
Stored within untold

Lips that are so kissable
The softness of your skin
The horses of desire
I have to rein them in

Your sweet Embrace fills the air
Surrounding where you stand
I'm caught up in the moment
Your wish is my command

I'd hold your hand if you allowed
Your fingers locked in mine
The thought you'd even let me
Sends shivers up my spine...

30 below

thinking about that homeless man
as i caress a cup of
designer coffee

on every pane of glass snowflake i see his frozen face
as vanilla creamer slides down my throat

saw that homeless man
three days in a row
a snowman nesting on the same corner
but I never invited him home
for a bit of warmth
to hear his forgotten story

karma is barking at the foothills of my soul
"you may be homeless someday
homeless
cold
forgotten."...

Premium Member Shattered Glass
Shattered glass

The glass all shiny
Stands almost invisible
Filling a gap to form a window
In the old Georgian house
Letting you see the wonder beyond
The shiny pane of glass.
Until one day
It begins to fall apart
Looking dull and broken
As slowly it crumbles
Piece by piece
The glass shattering cascading down
Resembling a ferocious waterfall,
As you roll away
Being washed by waves of glass
Tumbling down, swept away
Like shattered glass...

Perfect Little Squares
Every building in my view
Has perfect little squares
Of windows lined up neatly
Which I gaze at, unawares.

From where I sit, I cannot see
The curtains, shades or blinds,
The distance meaning if I stare,
Then no one really minds.

And yet, behind each pane of glass
Some lives are being spent,
Each one unique, no matter what
The co-op fees or rent.

The city houses millions,
All with windows facing out,
But we never know what life
Behind those windows is about.

Outside My Window Contest
A bird's eye view, I observe their nature
I witness their highs and lows
   Memorizing their absurd behavior
As bipolar as the wind that blows

Their emotions range from despair to ecstatic
Their tears flood the earth below
Keeping my distance, I reside in the attic
Behind a pane of glass in my safety chateau

Although enticing, the idea of affection
I steer clear of what's outside my window
I have only myself and my reflection
The chance of pain, I'd rather forgo...
