Slowly but Surely panic ensues
As I learn my Performance is due
A Nervous wreck I am
Terror silencing me; oh damn!

My stomach is churned by these wretched butterflies
So desperately I wish to say goodbye
But all those faces light up when they see me
Cheering and Jeering; Oh crap I have to pee

But that's too bad
So, so sad
Need to transform
It's time to perform...

He Never Shook My Hand - Epilogue
I think back now to the man I was,
Before I met my friend,
How different I was,
Altogether an average Joe.

I now sit here a nervous wreck,
Dishevelled and unshaven,
Virtually a recluse,
Keeping interaction to a minimum.

I wonder what he did to me,
How he took my mind,
Took my world,
And left me with these horrors.

We briefly met one wild autumn evening,
He never shook my hand,
But uttered those words,
“Allow me to share with you a different view of the world.”...

Once I had to go on stage
reading my poetry, I was a nervous wreck
but when up there bathed in light
that shone just for me I was in my element.
Each poet had read three poems, but I was unstoppable
until the arranger of the festival dragged off stage.
The audience consisted of 50 people who are not
who are not afraid of a poetry reading.
I was afire and wanted to read poetry everywhere
but my wife got me to go to bed before the fool
