I remembered being on a bus with my dad today
Passing an old decrepit man out jogging and I began to giggle
To which my father retorted laugh away
At least he is competing whereas you are merely commentating
Glued to the bench last out the trench
The air seems broken today
low and high clouds shred and fracture.
Breathing has to be sieved
through a fine mesh of mindfulness
and bellows worked
by the laboring hands of thought.
The cracked face of the sky
will be blood red by the night
until then
we sip the honey out of the dross,
last-out these daylight doldrums,
wait for a free-sailing,
and vagabond wind.
And now we strangers
Greet like the indifferent
As if the memory eclipsed
To create less than mediocre.
No cheek, no grin
No glimmer of familiar
Only our wall of remorse
Building our division.
Before the distortion
Engulfed our direction
Did we not see a friendship
To last out the years?
But our story concluded
And by my part a regret
Though not of the past
But of futures not encountered
Listen to poem:
As the music slips away
past melodies,
the crowds disperse
sliding into long exit lines,
lingering on hummed memories,
layered in echoes of concepts
still longing
to fool us again.
I'm not sure if pride matters
anymore as we pick away
at the pieces
piled in last-in
last-out stacks,
in the undertow
dragging at the depths,
tugging loose the scores
and scripts embedded
in layers of mud
on the seabed.
aye to zye
won two infinity
first in first out
last in last out
what are the chances that
a love song will make
number won or
number one
love is what we come from
love is what we do
in all things of love
it expresses it's need to
understand what we do.
in all apprecation
from that first til last
in ever loversation
it speaks to make it last
lovenation
for lovers
for lover
about love
and those who love
