Miles and miles of nothing, sparsely vegetated
with Joshua trees, desert wildflowers,
ocotillo cactus.
Not much to look at, but
plenty of it to see.
branches reach skyward like arms to Heaven
alone between sand and sun
waiting for an answer

Bolu and Joshua are best friends,
Together they manage all trends.
Tossed by inquisity Joshua broke the law,
Which almost wrought their fall.
But now again they're friends.

December eve wakes for me. Enamored by
a million stars in a widening sky, it shines down
on a frigid desert floor, and I, in wonder, spy
beauty of a Joshua tree. The fire, sparkling like a gown,
