Premium Member A Quinzaine,

~a labor of love they say,
           is love the labor?
                   to prove truth?

Today and Tomorrow

I love you more today, than I did yesterday.
But, I don't know, if I can love you anymore tomorrow.

Scrawled

that's right, I'm packing
I'm strong, not lacking
but love is cracking

although I'm small
big dreams recalled
fantasies squalled

it bounces like a ball
against a wall
where love is scrawled

for us to say I Love You to

Pause For a Moment

Between each word and syllable
There are pauses
Ones that represent
Thought and, too, conveying
A lapse for dramatic effect

Between each beat of my heart
There are pauses
Ones that tell me
Of love and how it effects life
Inspiring passion for love and life

Better Things

If you love me,
Please don't tell me
I've got better things to do.
Like sit at home, all alone,
Eating a can-
Of Dinty Moore Beef Stew.
You see, when the stew is gone,
I won't be left feeling sad and blue.
So, don't tell me, if you love me.
I've got better things to do.

Sanctuary

The love of Man, the love of God
are practised here; there is a quiet,
not just a lack of clamor, that is sacred.
It is a safe place to reflect upon
the blessings of your life, a still-point
in a world of stark uncertainty, and when
everything seems lost it is your home.
Form: Verse

Foolish

I search your eyes for who I am
Who I have become
As if I can’t find meaning in
My own reflection

I listen for what you call me
Who I am to be
As if what you see matters more
Then what I’m meant to see

I ask you to love me
Like I want to love myself
Foolish I am to ask you for
What shouldn’t lie anywhere else

What Does Silence Say

Silence from me was your request.

So, my silence says I love you. No more, no less.

As for me, I’d love to hear
your hopes and your dreams, whatever you hold dear.

So what does your silence say?

I’m OK?
Just go away?
We'll talk another day?
Can't find the words today?
You'd never understand me anyway?

So loved one,

What does your silence say?

In the movie sling blade
A character was made
This person represents
Souls on this earth who live in torment

Little ones who can't defend
Little ones who don't understand
Little ones who at your mercy
Can receive love or cursing

Which do you choose to give your child
Do you love and encourage with each mile
Or do you criticize
Causing psychological crushing to their eyes

Shipwrecked

Little to live for; when tears fall like rain
I’ve been left in the back yard; tied by a chain.
Love turned to habit; it controls what I do?
And when logic is fleeting; does that make me a fool.
 The man with the bible; he judges her bad;
But she was the best friend; that I ever had.
   Living life as a prisoner; behind a closed gate;
Reaction to action; does love precede hate?

Find Me Love!

Why do these walls keep love from finding me?
Are soulmates "make-believe" and fantasy?

I think cupid has gone and lost his bow.
Perhaps that wasn't the wind that passed but his arrow.

I can only hope this loneliness does not last.
But days seem to extend as time pass.

I believe love is hiding amongst the shadows.
Eventually I'll be free like lilies blowing in the meadow.

My Shadow

My non-irradiated chum
A lifelong silent companion
That’s with me wherever I go
This faceless image called shadow.
It mimics each movement I make
Regardless asleep or awake.
There are times in a darkened night
There’s no shadow from lack of light
Although it seems to disappear
At break of dawn it reappears.
A wife I most love and adore
The love of my life I am sure
Can never be with certainty
Close as my shadow is to me.

Shut Off My Heart

Through all the pain in my life
I think I should just shut off

Shut off and go away
and pretend to be lost

It’s better that way
no one to hurt

No one to love me
and then see their eyes divert

Why do I let people see my shadowy heart?
You’d think this time I would be smart

Always letting myself finally believe
Believe I found love so open and sweet

Finally thinking I could let my heart fly free
Now I know it never happens that way for me

Woman of My Soul

It bothers me knowing that our women
Who some find it hard to love again;
Are trapped in memories of abuse caused
by alcoholic violent men.
Drives me mad seeing our women walking
around with swollen eyes.
And the tears from catching you in your silly lie.
Difficult hearing the word "bi#%h" characterized as the lady.
Tortures my ears when you turn right around and call her "baby".
The woman is the purity in my soul.
The love from her is the only ecstacy I know.
