Insulation

Vision is to
  Art

As grace is to
  the soul

Not one
  without the other

Blanket
  against the cold

The Wit of the Inuit

Their igloos were short on insulation
  Causing the Inuit consternation ~
Since the tops were all bare
They covered them with hair ~
Aha! Their 'Wigloos' were a sensation

Trickling

Confetti trickles like running water.
Trickle, trickle, trickle—
I hear trickling...
Sound barrier insulation omits tones.
The party carries on.
Bits of pieces remain stagnant.
But I can still hear trickling . . .

a mouse is not the best taste tester

Sappy hired a mouse to be the taste tester for her restaurant
no one said anything for a day or two, but we were not happy.
He eats drywall, dust, fabric, even insulation, said the elephant.
Hiring a mouse to be our taste tester was wrong of Sappy.

Broken Steps

BROKEN STEPS

they had some good times
days not too hot nor too cold
cold preferable
unless denied the warm room
that place under broken steps

once while cleaning up
insulation was dumped
‘neath those broken steps
and Lord knows how many cats
had blessedly found a home

Sins

The sins of Man accumulate
Vindictively sowing the seeds of hate
Whats in our hearts will seal or fate
An unspeakable future if we so choose
Our very souls we stand too lose
Shave the insulation of our tainted view
To see the naked truth anew
Do the facets of humanity shine in you?

Hidden Sadness

Those who find in dismal poetry attraction
Could have within themselves some sadness in protraction
Behind seeming face of placid insulation
May be hidden melancholy well concealed
Many living lives of quiet desperation
That, in response, are unwittingly revealed

Chork

'Chork' isn't linked to ‘Cork’, the elastic tough outer tissue of the cork oak used for stoppers or insulation; ‘Chork’ means it's an act of making a typical sound your shoes make when you are walking in them and they’re full of water, as done by teens. ~X~X~X~

White Mongoose

Steel insulation warm thin hot smooth downy shepherd smoothness. Pistol clasps palms crystal misses birching basket weavers.
Fluffy firm pedestals release hard deniers.
Doldrum office charts demonstrating
Appendages conceal resistance.
Halcyon boogie board heroes.
Greek play rehearsal.

a tear tattooed at the corner of his eye

hardship chiseled in his features
silence laden by a troubled past
his thoughts kept to himself
behind an invisible wall of insulation
while his face speaks to me in whispers
of a history muddled with shady details

eyes reveal that regrets he's had a few
and dreams now seem out of reach
yet there's a part of him that refuses to give up

Dress For It

Reflection of fire in a window
representing comfort,
the visceral satisfaction of flame
and warmth of double hung insulation.

The natural world is there for us
or we can live in the house,
it’s nice to have both
each a refuge from the other.

Central heat and music
or watching clouds and feeling rain,
listening to birds
with wind in our face.

Wearying of either
come in or go out.
The last place we live is in the spirit.
How do you dress for that?
