The Okapi
I went to the Zoo and saw an Okapi,
Unlike the Hare, he did no hippity-hoppy.
But, like his cousin the Giraffe,
It truly had to make me laugh,
Its long tongue kept its ears from getting sloppy....

Hoppy Times
If women could stand up to pee
Oh how happy we all would be!
In half the time
She'd spend her dime
And then leave the seat up for me!

Champion retort:

Let's hope her aim
Is not as lame
As most men's seem to be!

Blame It All On Willie
Willie Nelson broke our hearts
When he sang ‘bout them broke backs—
He should of stuck to cowboy
Heroes and that’s the derned facts.

Hoppy and Roy are turnin’
In their earthly deposits—
‘Cause of all them gay cowboys
Comin’ out of their closets.

If cowboys start prancin’ strange
And act like they is insane—
We’ll blame it all on Willie
If they don’t walk like John Wayne!...

A Tribute To Dad
When kids my age were searching for
Heroes, the likes of Roy Rodgers,
Gene Autry, Hoppy and John Wayne
I already had my idol.
A hero is supposed to be
Courageous and strong and favored
By god. This description aptly
fit father then as a youngster
And today on this special day.
And when he died some years ago
A light was extinguished within
My soul leaving a darkened void
Where once my action hero, dad
Was surely the best of them all....

Premium Member George Washington Frog
Powdered wig was musty
Curls petrified and crusty
Mothballs smell much better
Especially in August weather.

George put it on his head anyway
Not wanting to disappoint his mother today
Rode on the float and waved to the crowd
Showing out with a hoppy dance, proudly and loud

That’s George Washington! His parents yelled.
Knowing full well that he always excelled.
Helicopter Mom and Motorcycle dad.
Still they raised a truly wonderful lad....

I Like
I like my earrings dangling.
I like my coffee hot.
I like to be real early;
(It’s too late if on the dot.)

I like my bagel seeded.
I like a hoppy beer.
I like a restaurant casual
With dim-lit atmosphere.

I like my pencils sharpened.
I like the weather cold.
I like to browse the shops
Where lots of crafty things are sold.

I like when my surroundings
And my psyche do agree,
For when they don’t, you’ll see the side
I do not like of me....

Premium Member The Frog Town Blues
I was walking
Down the road
I felt hoppy
Like a toad
When I came across
A critter on the street

I didn't know
That it was there
And I swear
I didn't care
But I felt a funky feeling
'Neath my feet

I had stepped
Onto a log
Heard a ribbit
From a frog
Made me jump so high
I almost lost my shoes

But it was Froggy's
Lucky day
He had squirmed
And slipped away
So, I whistled on my way
The "Frog Town Blues"

Ribbit Ribbit""...

Hoppy
I like a beer that’s hoppy,
With a bitter, pungent bite.
I never drink ‘til sloppy,
So imbibing is all right.

But when I have my nightly brew,
I want it to assert;
And every sip should help renew
In manners quite overt.

With hue of bronze and foamy head,
When poured, it should invite.
A lesser beer won’t do instead,
Especially if “lite.”

An I.P.A.* that’s filled with hops
Is drink for which I yearn;
So brewers, I will offer props
And daily, I’ll return.

*India Pale Ale...
