Cloud 9

i thought i was on cloud nine
until my cloud started raining
i realized i was really still down to earth

i should have been higher up by now
but the IV is higher than me
my OD brought me to the lowest i could go
and i am slowly sinking six feet under...

dedicated to Jacks you will be missed my friend

What and Who

What and Who

What's new in a world that doesn't care about everything?
 Who's nothing hoping for something?
Who's nothing getting nothing in return?
 Who's nothing spending everything?
 Who's everything caring about nothing?
Who's getting it higher up seeing everything?
Who's giving up a few things to spend on people?
 Who's saying what counts?
 Who's using it up?

Premium Member Dappled

Dappled dawn slowly raised its shade
As brindled pit-bull puppies played
Patiently the fisherman hooks the mottled rose-dotted trout
Peppiness in his laughter rings out
Lazily the varicolored finch's wings raise him up
Elaborately bedazzled is a spring buttercup
Day to night nature is dappled from higher-up

Premium Member Nothing

Nothing, dark silence
Nothing, cold darkness, cruel
Was I even dead?

Nothing, empty mind
Silence, my voice does live on
Speak it to me

Open your wide eyes
Open your mouth, talk, please do
Else, your breath will die

Try I to move; bold
Nothing, useless effort, cold
Fly I, abysmal

Fly I higher up
Fly I, become I once more
A dark mystery!

Up on the rise; above the creek
Braves, boys, and Indian Chief
Sit pow powing as arrows do make
Food gatherer, hunter amazing feats
Catching those fish for food to eat

Higher up on top of the hill
Indian maidens use their skills
Prepare for winter by gathering in
Winter squash, dried fruits, and venison
Shared stories that have no end

(This is strictly imagination from sitting on the porch and thinking what the Indians did to
survive.)

Premium Member Old Umbrella

He masterfully portrays Under an old umbrella Stopping no rain from falling Shows how moist life is Lifting the stem higher up Trying to keep rain away Nothing seems to stop it all Rain lands on his head To his chagrin it rains hard Beading down to his wet brow He desires to throw it out Useless contraption Now the rain pours on his face He debates life’s irony How his luck has fallen down As the rain descends

I Swing, I Swing

“Children need poetry too!”

Faster –higher; up and up I go!
Back and forth and to and fro!

The ground beneath my feet a blur.
The wind in my face is all astir!

I am a bird with chain for wings.
Oh! How I love to swing and swing

I kick my feet, I throw my weight
I'm feeling freedom, it feels so great.

I laugh and scream I have such fun
I swing and swing til day is done.

Then in my bed and in my dreams
I swing, I swing -I swing, I swing!

Fool's Gold

I see you, I believe in you!
I die in you, I will behold.
Yes I will be a fool’s gold.
In the morning, I am two.

Come deep into me you fool.
Like one I’m your two fold.
Correct me now and be bold.
Your day is mine I do rule.

I scream I shout and I am loud.
Oh My God! Where art thou now?
Fly higher up in my white cloud,
I will show Him absolutely how!

Do me once shame it all on me!
I am the only one you can see.

Premium Member Summer Rispetto

A ballerina butterfly, she’s gliding
sweetly through the meadow’s grass still fresh with dew.
She sees a stream, kicks off her shoes, and sliding
down from a rock, she steps into smooth, cool blue.
A swing on a nearby tree she later spies.
Higher and higher, up to the sky she flies!
Flowers surround her; the sun shines on her face.
My small summer princess rules the day with grace.

All Smiles

I dedicate this to Jazmine

You can see her smile
from across the land
it's a bright smile
a wide smile,
a smile at me
When i see it
I calm down (idiom)
She stands on shelves
to be higher up
because i want her there
because she is my north star.
she wants to be a writer
and i know
she will not only succeed
but she will be the greatest.
And she will travel the world
Writing with her chewed upon pen
and writing on a smooth fresh piece of paper
writing is her passion,
and i am her smile.
