As we sat for a quick evening snack
A knock on our door came with a smack.
A thoughtful lady whom we adore,
Our sweet grey-haired neighbor from next door,
Brought dinner, dessert, and candlelight,
With a string quartet for our delight.
Living as a pair in a hurry
We forgot our anniversary!
the ANGRY world of cars
one pushes, one shoves
in the hurry of love
confiscate those ORNERY horns
trade them in for ANGEL wings
fly around them, wave goodbye
lukewarm oil won’t do the trick
keep the headlights burning BRIGHT
not a BEEP BEEP world of fight
remember cars don’t drive themselves
the SOUL resides under the hood
be a good neighbor, yield RIGHT

I saw a light on the side of the road
Shining like a star in the dirt
Dusty diamonds in the rough
Cosmic talcum in the night
Fey child
Old little Good Neighbor lost to this time
Will-o-the-wisp in the gravel
She backed into the grass as I walked up
Wings to the wall, one might say
With a fallen whimpering mew
A secretive look fell into my eyes
And I left sugar-water and milk by the road.
