Premium Member A Word If I May, King Charles
In your youth, a bit of a hellion
      Septuagenarian, begone rebellion

    In midlife, having gone green
      Please dismount that stallion

Now as King, let your one cause be
      ~ Caring for humanity...

Reigning In
You may conquer
on horseback
but to rule
must dismount
Pandora
lies waiting
new blood
for the fount

Napoleon
Attila
Augustus
afield
The vanquished
in chaos
till order
—congeals

Premium Member Dancing on the wings of an autumn leaf
Two pixies dressed in October clothes
Were dancing on wings of an autumn leaf
Their lively footwear was fun to watch
Neither seemed concerned we were there

Twirling and whirling, on tippy toes
They showed off their dance moves
As the elm leaf floated to the ground
Where they would safely dismount...

Premium Member Amen
Clinging
climbing the walls
cracks and burrows
dodging mangles and tangles
dead ends
no bends
fire and ice
and ice hurts more
once twice thrice
but hey!
dismount
assess
access
I'm a mess
creak crack
(yes my crack hurts too)
broken back
arms dragging sagging and blue
but hell I'm here!
and hail that too!...

Premium Member Life's Carousel (Rondel)
Riding on life’s carousel
Seasons and years spin by
Round and round the horses fly
We’re dizzy under it’s spell.

Repeating patterns we know so well
Never asking why
Riding on life’s carousel
Seasons and years spin by.

The time will come to bid farewell
Those who stay on will say, “good-bye”
“Time to get off”, the midway man’s cry,
Do we dismount in heaven or hell?
Riding on life’s carousel....

Premium Member Scorpions and Horses
Tonight I'll saddle up the scorpion
kicking to hell its armored flanks
ratchet legs charging straight ahead
poison lance hovering above my head
claws snapping at the cooling desert wind,
hunting for fiery pieces of moon tinged sin.
I'll romp with a band of glass blown vamps
in Bosh's tasselled garden of earthly delights-
Come sunrise, i'll dismount my poisonous tank
don a tie and ride a three piece suited pegasus....

Grow Some Brains
And the world slumbers on,
While its sons and its daughters,
Are herded, like sheep,
Down the dark streets, to slaughter.

How fragile the thread.
By which street life hangs
With the guns and the drugs,
And the warring of gangs.

Dismount, while you can,
From that street carousel.
It's end destination
Will be prison, or hell.

With the world on the streets
Swiftly going insane,
'Stead of gettin' more guns,
You'd best be growin' some brains....

Premium Member bear of a mood
I was in a bear of a mood
You need to hibernate my husband said
I thought he needed some refrigeration
Pictured him hanging in a meat cooler

He thought it was me
I knew it was him
We have a saying “when the horse is dead dismount”
This worked for us for a number of years

We are older now
Maybe senile, forgetful
Neither of us would let the issue go
Stirring the other one up like we did when we were young

Maybe we just wanted to feel our juices again...
