Premium Member Cool Cat Mushroom

our quintessential cool cat mushroom was a beatnik rare
he danced with a wiggly butt, his shoulders in the air
there was rhythm in his walk, he acted like he did not care
blatant disinterest in the cool cat mushroom named McDare

Reunion, 2009

Reunion, 2009
				By Holly W. Schwartztol ©

It’s June and they’re calling
Curiosity’s enthralling
It’s Reunion time again

Do we really dare
To go back there
With our eyes and minds open?

Or do we shun
What was begun
And feign disinterest and ennui?

To finally discover
Inklings that hover
Evoking our hidden selves

Premium Member Life of a Dog

Puppy follows heart
Owners sitting.
Lap. Lap. Lap.
Clip. Clip. Clip.
Slurp. Slurp. Slurp.
Ball!

Puppy tries to be unfriendly.
No one’s fooled.
Lap. Lap. Lap.
Slobber. Slobber. Slobber.
Chew. Chew Chew.
Squirrel!

Two puppies.
Pretend disinterest
While circling and sniffing.
sniff. sniff. sniff.
Warning growl.
Puppy pile!

Winter Cold

Winter Cold.

I was going for a walk
when I saw an ice front coming down the lane
I let go of the dog on lead.
Ran home and burnt old poetry books
to keep the cold at bay.
Sagacity went up in flames keeping me warm.
Cold ashes and regrets.
And the dog, with its thick fur and disinterest
in reading, survived in the hollow of an old oak.

Premium Member Enticing Accommodation

Those days were like rows of paper dolls Before the lovely whisper of passion In charmed, heavenly color schemes releasing my disinterest from me. Your allure under lovely lodging eyes If I flee, I might be gone forever The moon heard falling echoes A romantic poetry downpour I'm floating on your waves carry me to the beach.

Premium Member Being Set Free

I should not have been surprised
I have seen it before
the isolation,
making yourself a priority
then the withdrawal
the disinterest
I am not holding a grudge
I am just hopeful
that one day,
you will realize, the self destructing path you’re on..

No talking behind your back
I’m better than that,
I wish you well,
with a thank you from me
for setting me free…

Premium Member Smitten by Kitten Disinterest

Listen to poem:
never loved cat ways
their tail-flicking arrogance
their unasked-for gaze
my family longed for one —
I yielded, keeping distance

stray kitten arrived
they all fawned gushed over it
but the cat chose me
the least interested one
who shooed and shoved it away

smitten by kitten
my heart disinterested
lurched to beat retreat
we're inseparable now
the kitten has claimed my lap
cat

Live To Repeat

I'm hurt but I've learned
And that I've heard
Is the greatest gift for one to ever yearn

Affections turn from infatuation to disinterest
To better again to worse
Before finally realizing one's individual worth

And a fool I'd be to try and swim upstream
In search for memories long washed away
Down into the river and to the sea

There are just some things in life
We cannot live to repeat

The Acquiesce Irony

Reluctantly I acquiesce
This is much to my dismay
Daunting, appears the task
Overwhelming thoughts consume my days

Disillusioned by the emotional discourse
Troubled by the arrogant improprieties
Living in a world of ignorance
Full of contemptuous indignities

Disheartened - I confess moving forward
Perturbed by societies disinterest of clarity
I still have hope for my family’s future
Hence, the acquiesce irony

Truth of Happiness

Happiness is the vital element of mind
It comes through self-satisfaction

Satisfaction is the child of self-controlling
Controlling is the power of knowing self

As a result
Happiness comes from knowledge of self

Greedless and disinterest in earthly things makes the happy
Happy fears not in death coz it's changing of existence merely

Knowledge of self is truth in happy mind
Truth has no interchange even in death

Complex Reality

Love,
Nothing else in life gives us such a shove,
As we shake our fists at the stars above,
Damning us with the depression we're so sick and tired of.

Fear,
Fear that the one we love will stray,
The object of our passion goes away,
The disinterest in their eyes that they continue to convey.

Cold,
Behold, as our lover is quickly sold,
To another heart, and we are left to uphold,
A depression we cannot control.

Our undying sensuality,
Such a complex reality.

the sloth yawns at time
inert, as listless minutes
turn wasted hours to years

work is left undone
avoided like a poison
the very thought, repugnant

the useless hand rules
in sluggish monotony
repeated “ad nauseam”

hear the weary sighs
a disinterest in ideas
thinking takes too much effort

how dull the moments
how easy to lay around
drearily, suffocating

and so the sloth goes
through blank, barren idleness
wallowing in stagnancy
