Wisdom Symbol
Pale moonlight
Dapples the
Path when
Running blindly
On dark
Winding streets -
Nature's wisdom symbol....

Under the Tree
Under the mimosa tree
My poet’s heart alights,
Dapples verse
In fragrant phrase
And blooms
In pink delight....

Autumn
Autumn
colors the leaves,
as nature's brush dapples
inks of cerise, yellow, and gold
on a canvas of green with orange tints;
adorning the tops of the trees.
Nothing, not even Spring;
can compete with
Autumn....

Nature Patterns
Spirals of trails from wandering snails,
Dapples of white and pink petals,
Imprints of pattering puppy paws
Adorned the path that we walked.
The art was most masterful on the dark pavement;
Patterns of nature installed.

Morning
Birdsong fills the air with sound so sweet
the morning sun dapples the lawn,
Shades of green from glowing to dark
Water gently bubbles from a hidden spring
Movement, so slight it should be missed
A breeze so gentle it’s barely felt
The wealth of nations can’t
buy this peace....

Seasons of the Sun
The Seasons of the Sun ©
angle of fall’s sun
so different from spring’s rays
dapples the sun porch
end of hot summer
the crisp, sharp tang of fall’s breath
smokes the air about
a waiting for sleep
under the blanket of snow
until spring sun beams

Dog Days
Sunlight in a blue sky
Dapples in and out of cottony grey clouds
Warming then soothing in turn
Two retiring humans under a tree
Amid a hundred shades of green
As a large yellow monarch
The king of insects
Glides and flutters by
With a sense of purpose and delicate grace
In perfect juxtapose.

Fall Opens the Door
Fall Opens the Door (Haiku)
morning sun dapples
trees in a polka-dot dress
shines soft green and light
chill hint of autumn
smells of summer, loam, and pause
visions of winter
sap returns from leaves
to store deep in the tree heart
yellow, red, orange, burnt

Delay
Delay decay
Deem death defiant
Dance dreamy daze
Relay replay
Risk rude reply
Rule ripples rough
Delay display
Dance designs dream
Dust dazzles drift
Portray prelude
Prime petty poise
Please puny pride
Display delay
Doom dapples draft
Dream dusty dirt

Elysium Tree
Elysium take me now!
My hand is outstretched for you
Send down the cloud
As slowly I close my eyes
Surrender my power to the soil.
I close my eyes and find myself
Under this tree
The sun dapples my skin and the grass
Is like gentle snow
Across the land is beautiful daffodils in prime
In my ears are the tunes of golden lyres....

Weeping Willow
Come by side weeping willow
Willow grow by my side here
You can cry weeping willow
Without having to hide.
Come by my side weeping willow
Willow grow by my side here
Cast your shade here weeping willow
With no dapples of sunlight to come.
Come by my side weeping willow
Willow grow by my side here
Live and die here weeping willow
With no pain to show the world....

Harbingers of Spring
long stretched-out nights shrink
icicles melt drip by drip...
wild geese honk in flight
pushing through thawed soil
shoots rise up toward the sun...
crocuses sprouting
green dapples the trees
winter slowly slips away...
short days grow longer
a change in seasons
life gets rejuvenated...
color’s replenished
harbingers of spring...
songbirds sweetly sing...

Earliest Spring Forest Blooms
Early spring flowers live hurried lives upon the forest floors.
As soon as the ground thaws, they peak forth their tiny blooms.
Alongside ponds and running streams purple violets are seen.
White trilliums and bluebells grace the still brown earth.
They only thrive until the canopy thickens with green.
Still some blue breaks through and sun dapples its rays.
It's Mother Nature's will that life keeps springing up,
And repeating itself endlessly....

Like a Magnet
The sunshine, like a magnet,
Tries to draw me back outside
Though after my pre-sunrise walk,
My preference is to hide.
Within these walls I’ve made my place
And, in relaxing wear,
I’ve found enough to do so I
Don’t need to go out there.
Yet when the sunlight dapples
All the buildings ‘cross the street,
That old familiar tug begins
And brings me to my feet.
I find some socks and bundle up,
My mask from eyes to chin,
And head outdoors to feel the sun
On just an inch of skin....
