Tethered Wings

Fear presses, cold steel
Constricting thought, killing love.
Freedom paralysed.
A swallow with tethered wings
Longing for the Sky

Squeezed To a Deadly Degree

Squeezed to a deadly degree
Trying to wriggle out
Of a constricting grip
Knees weak, as blood
Rushes to my aching limbs
I feel nothing
And nothing is all I want to feel

Misrepresentation of Life

Misrepresentation of life
In constricting colors
They tell a different story
That my ears prefer to hear
You’re sweeping strokes across
A paper waiting to be filled
And you’re dedicating it to me

The False 4th Estate

“Truth
a distraction”
the media pouts
Constricting
those voices
trying to shout
Dumber
than dumb
brain dead by degree
Digging new graves
for the few
— still left free

No Dial Tone To Dote On

No dial tone to dote on
My memory is made
And my format is filthy
The tone is tempting
But the pause is pressing
My volume is voiceless
And the channels are changing
And a constricting clasp on cancel
Is my only option

Pressure

Do you ever feel like you are dying
Like someone is sitting on your chest
Constricting the flow of oxygen
feeling the shortness of breath
Pressure that threatens to steal your last breath
I'm not dying
Although sometimes
I wish I was.

Foliate Scourge

.

                                      chlorophyll cancer
                                constricting aquatic breathe
                                         suffocating life

Heat Waves

Heat waves burn the Summer air
deceit makes it difficult to breathe;
Deplete my lungs of oxygen
beat like dog days lies beneath;

Rush of sultriness over and over
paintbrush colors a soft breeze;
Gush of flames constricting
hush now your pain can ease.

Chopin To Sand

To breathe is constricting
to walk is now strained
My passion is boundless
My power has waned

  The music demands
that I keep up the pace
so much to do,
when I look at your face

  I see hope rekindle
I feel I can try
to put down this opus,
this work,
ere I die.

Python Refuses To Share Lunch

little coil
shiver and shake
tiny squeeze
squeak
tah dah tah dah

anaconda arrives
need any help? she asks
python hisses a warning
constricting a bit tighter

louder squeak, then silence
dinner’s eyes pop out

python smiles
not about to
share her
lunch
anaconda
slithers away

Ancient Constrictor

Gleaming, constricting-
   Swallowing Ancient worship
      Anaconda creeps.

* Anacondas were once, and perhaps still are, revered and worshiped as
A God figure to Amazonian tribal natives. Anacondas are also one of the
few animals who actively seek, and ambush, human prey.

Way of Light

Buildings block light
only darkness is in sight
no where to run
and no place to hide
salvation is more and more difficult to find
as factory smoke gets thicker
laws are constricting more intensely
and the sun can't be seen anymore
only one thing left to do
become the personification of morning

Freudian

Hands to lovingly hold

Holding back

Comforting, yet

Boa constricting

Loudly wrapped, into

Strangled silence

Declarations of love

Concealing muted anger

Mother of my dreams

Warden of my nightmares

Protected by your spirit

Smothered by its dominance

Momma's boy

...Emasculated

Bondage

Lose your mind
and I'll unwind
the constricting twine
that confines
your wrist to your spine
and you're always mine
until we elegantly dine
on the golden bread and the crimson wine
for this pulls you across that sacred line
form martyrdom into the divine
but unless you lose your mind
your hands continue the suffering of their bind

Living Fears

Broken words thrash in my tears

as I way the price of living fears.

Abusive anticipations constricting my perception

of the delicate times I desire

in the approaching tides of time.

But more do I value the delight

of present times spent with my significant.

So I wait for the tides to drift in

and relish the love I currently possess.

The End

No where left to run
No more Time to hide
You can't stop this disaster
Once our Worlds Colide
Stand Strong in the mist of this Calamlity
Doomed to our Compressibility
False hope so addicting
Freedom Constricting
I Won't see you again
For this is my End
Though my story is over, another one is told
All watch and listen as this story unfolds.

In Vain

Wasn't I crazy,
Or was I mad,
To yearn for love,
That could be had.

Wasn't I reckless,
To believe that skies,
Would clear once more,
For my weeping eyes.

Isn't it ironic,
That life should remain,
After all that's treasured,
Has ceased in vain.

A melancholy storm,
Constricting love with its noose,
Has left me alone,
In a life so obtuse.

The Road Down

Tomorrow left abandoned
with every choice I make
Constricting all potential joy
and limiting my fate
Each short term indecision
restricting unrestrained
My future playing out of tune
a timed and dull refrain
Most often I have missed it
when no outweighs a yes
For temporal gain my judgment strained
—an orphan in regress

Dream Caught

Shadows dancing about,
encircling around wrists
changing into snakes
and then it rains blood.
Constricting coils of rope,
a clattering of bones.
Laughter surrounding,
legs run but everything
is slowed down.
Screams are silently
stolen from lips.
Falling down into
a pool of fire.
Eyes close in horror,
open again....safe.
Alive.
Awake, in the real world.

The Hangman

Dreams course through;
Constricting , a noose,
Draining your oxygen dry

Attached to paranoia ;
... Back and forth ,
Eyes twitching with it

Until they catch the wind,
Until the flames are fanned,
the slow acceptance of 'real'

Your pencil draws the line,
Transforming fantasies ;
Shaping the perfect path

no more empty direction;
The rope is severed
You release the Hangman

Pretty Little Lace

Wrapped tight;
the softest shackles
Braided like arms .
weaving us together ,

How tight will you tie,
how much can I take?
Before the ribbon breaks,
pretty little lace

splitting all over the floor
I want to be free
you pretty little ribbon
they can have that face

My laughter carries on the wind
I have my release
constricting little ribbon
 In pieces, reckless abandon

When Illness Comes

There is no breath only pain
Pain mocking draining down
Down in the sick sully vein
Veins constricting stopping now

When the illness comes...

There is no beat; only pain
Pain maddening searing up
Up in the hearts red veins
Veins constricting stopping now

When the illness comes...

There is life and no more pain
Pain ending stopping now
Now God is graceful in this vein
Veins breathing loving now

Bubbles

bubbles remind me of deep water
an ocean of midnight stealing my breath
it's slow motion cold constricting my lungs
sending circles of my life to the surface to pop

bubbles remind me of fourth grade summers
and the dish soap smell of the bubbles we blew through
a plastic stick with a circle on the end
watching them rise in the air until they popped
and splattered our still innocent faces

Anxiety

anxiety showing through;
bated breath and tired sighs
all the same
today and tomorrow...
just crude forgeries of yesterday
nothing changes
every exhalation breathing out
another piece of our monotony ridden souls

pressure
strife
choking me, constricting my lungs
as if even the air is now my enemy
blowing and pushing me in directions
that I'd sworn never to take

anxiety showing through
