St Pius the Tenth

I genuflected,
Is that even the
Proper tense?

I've wondered.

And the Math Man,
clipboard and all
Smashed his
Brains in,
with his cat
and Bicycle.

And closed now,
Is that institution
Where I learned
Only text book
rhetoric and
Public exposure
of my Genitals.

A Primal Scream

Far from the curious and the bored
   from prying eyes and microphones
The haunt of laboratory and clipboard
   stiff backbone, late nights alone

A drive from deep inside, a primal scream
pushing and tugging the scientist's dream
Fatigue's chains broken, he toils on
   Discovery's Joy, a new day's dawned

Where I Need To Be

I can pretend, I'm at the beach
cool sea water, around my feet
sand that goes, for miles and miles
as I whittle away the hours

not a thought comes to mind
all my worries left behind
my clipboard left
on a very messy desk
right now it doesn't matter
I'm where I need to be
on the beach, the whispering sea
next to me

The Blue Knight Seeks Work

Yes there is a coffee stain on
my hauberk and a tear in my
pennon, a
gap on my teutonic reference sheet.

I concede that the clipboard which I hold so
dear about me like a shield is cracked and in
a state of
disrepair.

But I will ride out true, seeking to be vassal to yet another
lord, as I
still need to find a job.

Skyscraper and Arrogance of the Man the Way You Build Higher

The skyscraper,
climbs to the sky,
solemn...upright
by human
imitation
God's...
undaunted
The man
feels
absolute Sir of the world...
the skyscraper,
falls from the sky,
as an icon
of concrete,
fallen angel...
from its fall
the vain
human,
proud
still...guilt
the simple
clipboard...
not his
prepotency...!
and arrogance...!

Pride and Arrogance

The skyscraper,
soar into the sky,
solemn ... erected
by human
imitation
God's...
Undaunted
The man
feels
 infallible,
Mr
of the world...
The skyscraper,
falls from the sky,
like icon
of concrete,
fallen angel ...
Of its fall
the vain
human,
proud
still ... guilt
the simple
clipboard...
not his vainglory
and arrogance ...!

Blame the Beer

.

Blame it all on warm beer
at the stoplight.

The inside of my skull throbs
with the drone of tired traffic.
And windshield wipers whine
with my CD's old rock metallic.

Then, jolting my line of vision,
is a strapping, suspicious cop.
His clipboard and pen, enough
to make my sour hiccup stop.

Blame it all on warm beer
at the stoplight.

Warm Beer

Blame it on warm beer
at the stoplight.

My cerebrum throbs,
hodgepodge of noises:
windshield wiper's whirring whine,
depressing drone of tired traffic,
primeval beat of hip-hop sound;

the most jolting thing
in my line of vision:
a strapping traffic officer, his pen
and clipboard menacingly poised
to render judgment on me.

Blame it on warm beer
at the stoplight!

I am Such a Gemini

some people type right into the computer
I never thought I would be one of them, but I am
At this second I am sitting my car, writing on a clipboard
As the words appear, I realize how Gemini I am

Words appear in three ways – cursive, print and shorthand
Wait. Four ways, some are abbreviated with periods
If I knew a foreign language, I am sure I would throw that in too
I am such a Gemini!

Florida Department of Fish and Wildlife

October,

Time when jellyfish
Wash ashore
Cover beaches in
Rotted goo.

Count the numbers
In blue ballpoint
Mark the map
in red.

Right, left
Booted squelch
Sand and guts
Dropped the clipboard.

Running ink,
Sticky slime
Wunderbar wrapper
Clings to the page.

Telephone the department
Need another day
To get the numbers
Info lost in kidney juice.

“Got to do it now”
Before gulls,
Tide comes in, already
harmonica squawks echo.

Monitor

Uniform waves
On a blue LED screen
Rhythmic contraction fading
And we all know what that means

White jackets Rush
Scrubs flying down the hall
Looks of panic
Slowly, to the grave he crawls

Large piece of mine
Yet more of theirs
Sitting in silence
Small room of chairs

Clipboard in one
A pain in the other
Quiet approach
We stare at each other

There's no coming back
The day is now done
We miss you already
I need one more day. Just one..

Trip To the Er

Enter the cavernous chamber
Met by the paperwork__you know the clipboard
Enter all this information first right here
Remember we need address, SS#__So we can trace you
Good we've got all that so now we'll treat you
Enter the little room with a I don't care nurse
Now I want to know what would equal good care
Care that would keep you coming back
Yeah! We want return visits not wellness

Room without view
Occupied by much equipment
Opposite of home's comfort
Much anxiety
