Premium Member Poetry Soup Categories
My one and only pet peeve with this Soup of Poetry
is when I post a poem and must choose a category
but none of the categories listed applies to my poem or me.
I'll categorize this one under "Family"
since "Self" is not one of Poetry Soup's categories....

Premium Member Decisions
"Do you consider yourself one
who can make decisions?"
I was asked not too long ago.
I pondered for awhile
then I replied with a smile,
"To be honest, I don't know."

I didn't want to categorize this piece as being Funny
but I couldn't decide among all of the categories....

Nobody Is Different
People categorize us in different ways
Concise decisions of how we talk
Auto pilot as they stalk
Crazy dressing must be rebellious type
Wearing makeup in the middle of night

Revealing dress for all to see
Scruffy look many can be
So how can you say no different ways?
Seeing the soul in its pure form
Ignoring culture, race and bad taste...

Premium Member I Don't Give a Fig
To say you would unblock someone if they can be civil is a crock of BS that I'd categorize as narcissistic drivel. It's just another veiled shovel full, meant as a dig but it's quite clear that some people don't give a fig! Oh, the impudence of one who has an arrogant nature. The petulance of one without disciplined nomenclature.

Stardust
The will shall supplement my fitness,

categorize my songs,

and ejaculate a witness!

He shall shuttle our smiles through the day,

complicate our wrongs,

and dish out the bongs,

sing along with songs,

in rooms of grape with walls of shakes,

tomb smoke and tokens-

taken in by notes,

domes inside zones,

landscaping Vogue-

no real reason to pose unless you are gold....

Premium Member Falling
Falling so hard for you
        beat will not wane
dark blue nights dreary cold
      ran down your street
to see if you were home
      tapped on your pane
   come feel my soft touch
        dance on bare feet!

Shaming Power To the People
People are gonna have their opinion.
People are gonna talk their smack
People are gonna look down on you
People are gonna laugh at your lack
People are gonna think they’re better
People are gonna categorize you
People are gonna look at you funny,
And people are gonna unjustly despise you.

These are things people can do to
cause us shame, but only if we let them.

The only power people have to cause
us shame is the power we put in their hands....

The Grass Is Always Greener
The stares burn my skin, I fail to conform, becoming faded in the world. Only one choice: follow others or be forgotten, The ropes hold me back, forcing me to forget myself. I feel the pressure to categorize who I am, Labels controlling the way we act: Sexuality, gender, and friends, Without a choice I'll never be accepted. I choose to separate from the conformist ideology that constricts who I am. I choose to find the greener grass on the other side.

Premium Member Sensing Six
The wind woke me up.
It tried to be silent, as it always does, but I heard it creeping upon my forehead.

The fury of which I’ve felt before, but heard it only in nonce occasion.

Lapping its languid licks upon a childish scalp seeking unknown treats.

“A trick of the senses,” said the brain at its beginning. “There are but five, now categorize the rest.”

Until a sixth has spoken from the depths of an other world,
I believe it never was the wind that woke me with its words....

Don'T Judge a Book By It's Cover
When you look at my skin tone
Don't categorize me
When you see what i wear
Don't dare label me
You don't know me
You just see my outside
I may be the sweetest person alive
Your assumptions are therefore unjustified
I may be the best friend you'll ever have
I may be that dream love if you chance
Instead of judging me by my looks
Misjudging me from first glance
Don't judge me by what you read
Or by what you see on television
Take time to get to know me
And form your own first hand decision...
