The ocean and the approaching sea band 
— another pass for
both our same reflexes.

It catches and eats a mouse.    
Eagles snatch prey with a sweep.
While turtles are camouflaged in the deep.
My knee is in pain due to dodgy cartilage,
possibly because of an active life and age....

melting in the harbor
from the tongues warmth
but forces cranial hypothermia
thoughts frozen solid, pain
escapes through cartilage
frozen treats adored but
dreaded from it entering
the gates but as it does 
residents scream for ice cream...

Awareness drifts in a pool of sinew, flesh, fat, muscle, cartilage, hair, nail, bone, sodden skin, fluid, bile, excrement, blood, swirling in the maelstrom; in its belly thought. 
Clarity forgotten, dissolved, flushed down the drain without Mercy.

Why must I cry
Tears running down
Nothing in my eye

And I laugh 
And there's nothing funny
I put my dentures in my mouth

As I bite down on the bone
My gums bruised  cartilage
Sucking soup
I cry
Teary eye
I laugh I cry
Funny mouth 
Choking  now on that chicken bone
Sigh~

Playing football earned me a concussion
   Basketball tore the cartilage in my knee
Running cross-country sprained me my ankle
   While boxing knocked the sense out of me

Throwing a curveball ruined my elbow
   Swimming lap after lap did 'fix' my shoulder
My erratic golf swing left my back in a knot 
   And I've arthritis everywhere, now I've grown older...

Restraining it against the comfortless chair
He says to relax,
But the tremors intensify.

Deep breath
Lungs release
Cartilage crunches
Blood flows

Shiny metal ring
Rests against the ear
A new opening in the body
Diverging from natural design....

      eyelashes blink
        muscles stretch
          mind thinks ;

cartilage contracts
   glands swell
    lips quiver
     sinew syncopate
      skin, spine, senses shudder
       tongue tastes
         ears echo and resound

bones break
   bodies bleed
      breasts ache;

life begins
  living is short
    time is long 
live it well
     existence is
     everything
that matters.....
