Sports Legacies

Playing football earned me a concussion Basketball tore the cartilage in my knee Running cross-country sprained me my ankle While boxing knocked the sense out of me Throwing a curveball ruined my elbow Swimming lap after lap did 'fix' my shoulder My erratic golf swing left my back in a knot And I've arthritis everywhere, now I've grown older

Oh, my, so many painful injuries! I hope at least some of these have healed by now, Gershon. Sometimes when we complain about the huge salaries sports figures earn, we forget the athletes often pay a price that can mean lifelong pain. (Swimming actually helps my neuropathy pain.) It sounds like you are quite an athlete. Very interesting poem, my friend. Enjoyed reading it but hate thinking of you suffering. Hugs, Carolyn

I should be so athletic...Truthfully, my lack of swimming and baseball prowess kept me from those two injuries... but the others I have suffered, I'm afraid, (and they've left me quite limited physically, unfortunately). Oh, well... I paid the price, as you aptly put it. (Although I never made any money at it). :) gw

O.K. Go ahead. Laugh at all of us wounded warriors! Ha! ... Actually we're so funny that I can't even look in the mirror anymore without it laughing back. :) gw
