An Empty Bassinet
Anguish paints the mask.
Choking on dysphoria
begrimes a collapsed heart.
Hypothermia sets in
when squeezing the color blue....

First Common Cold
A swathed October,
With freckled bundle of leaves
In a child's fingers—
How warmth is supposed to be,
The ground for a bassinet....

Newborn
Awake crying in the darkness
Hungry must be fed
Nursed, changed, swaddled
Rocked and laid gently into the bassinet
Lonely wanting to be held
Awake crying in the darkness...

Carpe Diem
Lovers gather, yelling "carpe diem"
Lovers kiss, living with totem
Lovers fall, counting walls
Lovers forget, crushing falls.

Love birds chirping as one
Under a tree skipping one by one
Above the bassinet where cuckoos nests
Below the cradle are loving breasts.

Rush to me and sail with me
On a gondola in Venice we flee
Gaping romanticism in idealism
Dying dualism without ostracism....

a pebble in the ocean
grain of sand on the shore
an ant on the sidewalk
  and millions more

baby in a bassinet
  or in a high chair
gently placed in a car seat
  tender loving care

some say life's without meaning
  speeding by in a trice
shh! mom and baby are snuggling
  so lovely, so nice

Silvery Moon
Silvery Moon drifts through open window.
Baby's bassinet is bathed in evening sky.

Across the open yards, Silvery Moon gifts,
gifts love and devotion to taper the shadows.
A shimmer to shield from darkness
dusting sleepy lids with light like baby powder.

Hold fast to fleeting innocence
and boldness of brilliant shield
as you swaddle my tender babe tonight
through open window, Silvery Moon.

Paulette was a happy brunette who now is forlorn and upset for something, she cannot forget. She backed up- ran over her pet while driving her brand new Corvette and killed her dear poodle, Suzette. Tears flowing, she laid a rosette next day on a pink coverlet once used in her own bassinet- and cried at the grave with regret.
