Life can be a struggle
Yet still we have those highs
But for many there are low points too
And that’s where sadness lies. 

The ups and downs are standard
Part the tapestry of life
However for just some of us
The extremities are rife

With feelings of elation
And of depths of dark despair
So still through times of empty

Across the street, on scaffold rigs,
Construction workers hover
And if they’d glance my way, this is
What they just might discover:

A bedroom filled with books and pictures
All in frames of black,
A quilted bed and clutter
I’ve been meaning to attack.

Not a Scaffold

They whisper in hush tones
stealing glances askance
furtive and guilty
with their pant and skirt down.

He had walked in
when they were at it
he had built a lot of trust
that snapped phut.

But the snap was not fresh
this was a pretty old crash
for now he grinned ear to ear
and saluted the lucky guy.
