we teeter on the balance
of the scales of life
our soul saccades between polarity
right from wrong
left from right
observing an examination
of nature versus divinity
the weight of intention burdens the act
absence of regret is the conception of arrogance
obsession with opportunity is request for heedlessness
slipping
when the wallpaper walks
and the floor
pulls the wind out of you
*saccades: a rapid movement of the eye between fixation points
(impaired, as with concussions, causes vertigo, anxiety, fatigue)
Bones growing soft- no summer glow
plows plopping out piles of salt
fender benders and potholes.
White knuckles and black ice
sun shower and petal
nowhere in sight.
Ice cubes for breakfast
polar vortex for lunch
wind chill for dinner
the snowman is hunched.
Icicles for a snack
winter has no mercy
there goes my trick back
but I got off easy
my neighbor had a heart attack.
Lake effect snow
drifting on the road
somebody froze to death
less than half a mile from home.
Dreaming of green summer glades
to cut through this icy cake.
For saccades to warm the shovel
Old Man Winter acts a lot like the devil.
