the invisible man
hit by car...nothing to see
here folks...move along

Why are you slowing down?
Is it to make us all frown?
There’s an accident ahead,
and you had to turn your head.
What were you hoping for?
a little glimpse of blood and gore?
Were you hoping for a body or two,
arranged in plain view?
Why don’t you visit a mortuary,
where you can see the family’s misery?
You can see bodies torn to shreds,
and where vehicle parts embed.
You just had to slow the traffic,
with your curiosity so pathetic.
I hope you had a good look,
as death his victim took?
Why must you rubber-neck,
at the passing of a vehicle wreck.

High above all the nonsense I see below,
Eyes plummet to you alone in its midst,
Surrounded by illogical thoughts with no substance,
Dreamers who make no plans without you there,
Still looking up to me on high pedestal built for you,
I spread the wings you gave me so long ago,
Gliding down now for closer view of valley grown understood misunderstandings,
Earth bound mirrors crowded by all reflection struck gawkers,
Rubber necking their way down freeways that surely will end.

"A poem to me is the essence of any thought,
Being built from its foundation into tower scraping sky.
It can fly like no other bird to places never seen,
Even spaceships can only dream of taking its place."

On spindly legs he stands so tall
And calmly chews his cud
He has a great view of it all
And sits down with a thud
He'll look at you with such disdain
After all you're a human
He's quick to size you up,it's plain
This creature has acumen
At rubber-necking he does rule
And gawking all around
He does while looking oh so cool
And never makes a sound
He is my favorite at the zoo
So snooty and so sassy
Mr. Giraffe there's very few
I see that are so classy!
