Thanksgiving is a uniquely American holiday
Hearkening back to the days of the pilgrims,
Giving thanks for a bountiful harvest this way.
Over the centuries, celebrated by millions,
A time for reflecting on blessings received
Among them is the example of Roger Williams.
Who stood up strongly for what he believed
Establishing a free church in Rhode Island,
The right to worship as we please was conceived.
Reasons for Thanksgiving throughout the land
Are as numerous as our citizenries’ imagination
Always pertinent, interesting, and never bland.
No matter what our circumstances or station
Let’s give hearty thanks for our blessings indeed
But most of all let’s all be grateful for our nation,
For forefathers who nourished freedom’s seed.

Horn Haiku Trilogy Solution Saying
My wife Jill was reading a comment to me
that my friend Terry had posted onto
FaceBook so I wrote my Horn Haiku.
You will have to start
From within first, Then have to
Start working way out.
When we can never
Fully understand our self,
How can we others?
So take one minute,
Release all our emotions
Again be born free.
James Horn

When you were born, you were destined to have a future that was very bright.
You were a fantastic pianist and I've been listening to your records every night.
People have been very sad since you passed away.
I bought over twenty of your albums on Ebay.
You recorded over a hundred albums during your career.
Your music has brought joy to millions over the years.
When you died last year, your music had to cease.
You were one of the best, may you rest in peace.

You were born in 1924 and you died in 2011.
You died one year ago today at the age of 87.
My grandparents gave me one of your records in the late seventies.
And I bought another of your records at a flea market in 1983.
It's a fact that you were a great pianist.
You were talented and you will be missed.
You began recording for Kapp Records in the fifties.
You did an amazing job when you performed Born Free.
In 2010 you were inducted into the Hit Parade Hall of fame.
When you died of pancreatic cancer, it was a damn shame.
You made beautiful music with those piano chords.
Now you're in Heaven playing the piano for the Lord.
