Thus in poetic reprimand
we slap each other – back of hand
while saying bully’s have no sand
proclaim ourselves to be so grand
that every scritch and scratch of ink
taints and colors what we think
a searching trail of blue-black blood
erased by anger’s swirling flood.
Then rises beauty’s Phoenix glow
to warm the fetid, frenzied flow
ease its passage, free the sage
allow the thoughts like wine to age
as wit and wisdom recombined
each scritch and scratch now redefined.

The concrete we walk upon
The rock face we just climbed
It’s all just solidified dust
That somehow found design
The grass in meadows below
The trees in forests behind
It’s all just carbon atoms
That somehow recombined
The water in our oceans
The oxygen our lungs refine
It’s all just gaseous elements
That’s somehow in decline
The space in our cosmos
The conscience in our minds
It’s all just part of being alive
That somehow dies over time
The belief in redemption
The heaven we wish to find
It’s all just hopes and prayers
That somehow this poem is blind.

Ever vailing; the eyes of this fearer.
Shade of wispier shape; holds tight his gaze.
Witching hour; moonlit tryst before his mirror.
He loves alone; death 'tis the toll he pays.
Father God above shake my shattered mind!
Let that which was lost finally be found!
Let broken pieces too be recombined!
I plead you break these chains which have me bound!
The silent prayer of this searching soul.
Trapped in ones mind; the worst of labyrinths.
The choices made seem outside his control.
All that he was; built upon crumbling plinths.
The human condition; that of despair.
Existence; such a trivial affair.
