Endless Pain

I could never have loved anyone
the way I have loved you.
Heart on Heart, facing life and death,
just me and you.
I could have followed you like your
shadow, true love, I thought.

Our Souls joined as one from the
moment we met.
With a promise of forever silently
sealed.
Even though our time was only
a minute, it was enough to last
all eternity, I thought.

In my Kingdom of love, joy and
tranquillity, an unexpected
thunderstorm brought great sorrow.
And in my memories, the comings
and goings, day and night, took the
desire to face the morrow.
It pains me through and through
to think all the joy and laughter
were nothing more than an illusion.
The head swirls like leaves in a
whirlpool of uncertainty and
confusion.

“I will hold your hand forever,
and together, we will enjoy life’s
simple pleasures”, you said.
Why did Faith douse the flicker
from raging into a beautiful flame?
Was I deliberately being misled?
Or was it all just a game?

Tears fell continuously like a heavy
downpour of rain,
Pictures of memorable moments
captured, now soaked and destroyed,
never to be seen again.
The heart now lives in a broken
dream wrapped in melancholy and
utter despair.
While the hollow shell of a tormented
Soul lingers in an abyss, fighting
with itself, refusing to accept that
the rainbow of such a sweet love
could suddenly disappear.
