Sol Squints

Sol squints as His ruby-red eye peaks over the edge of the Earth. And as scarlet inks a pink sky, Day dims, awaiting Dawn's rebirth. Shades of charcoal dappled on blue; merge in the creases of the night. And a lone owl bids Sol adieu; silhouetted by Day's last light. Vermilion clouds float overhead; gathering low above the ground. And as the far horizon bleeds, darkness descends without a sound. Shadows flow like rivers of black as twilight succumbs to Dusk's dark. And daylight slips into a crack; abandoning a landscape; stark.
