Social Distancing

I've spent my life social distancing by pushing people away
More times than not the further I push you the more I wanted you to stay
I've been back stabbed so much that I don't know how to trust
It's just me, Myself and, that line has already been used too much

My past has taught me that most people are only out for what they can get
I've faced my biggest demons and haven't ran yet
People left after promising they wouldn't so now I never rely on others
I stay by myself to heal like a wounded bird who flies for cover

There's been times I starved so others could eat
I used to get mad at my losses, until I learned how to recover from defeat
I was there for you, yet you were nowhere to be seen when I needed you most
Which showed me I never really needed you close

I sat by myself during my nights of worry
I used to feel weak, but I found out that depression was all talk like Deontay Wilder, it didn't realise it was fighting Tyson Fury
I found a way to win inside of a ring that many people get lost in
I found happiness when I stepped outside of my comfort zone and refused to be boxed in

Thank you to everyone who left and betrayed me, you made me realise I can rely on myself
I'll find a way to overcome any obstacle, you won't see me cry for help
When I was younger I thought I wouldn't make it if you didn't stay
But you were taking advantage of me, so I started social distancing by pushing you away
