TRANSFORMATION

TRANSFORMATION

Am I really a mouse, surely it can’t be
Yesterday, I was a mountain of a man
Yet now, scrambling from these sheets
In the morning light, I look down to see
That I have short white fur all over me
But although so fast, my heart still beats
Twitching whiskers were never the plan
And two big pink ears, can this be Disney

What could have happened since last night
A big transformation, not of my choosing
Well, small actually, as I am a tiny mouse
It will be a different existence from today
Maybe find a crevice or hole to hide away
I’ll have to run now and explore this house
Is this what my mind feels like when losing
Perhaps I’ll meet others with similar plight

I never liked cheese, but it’s different now
Avoiding those sprung traps I used to place
Gone are expectations of joining the team
I will lose it if someone should call me cute
And no more struggling to get into that suit
Or going to the gym and blowing off steam
Scurrying around is a different kind of race
I’ll try to adapt quickly, but don’t know how
