Balance

Balance is difficult for me --
generally leaning one way
or the other

if not oscillate
more apt to choose that
additional cold beer,

wanting to capture sunset

squeeze several more blazing
rays onto a fiery horizon – a
tropical beach, some Paradise Lost
deep in memory….

One more dab to an already
overflowing canvas – one more
transitional metaphor, lyrical vehicle
of flickering, manic dimension

rocking the spirit
like a saturating kiss
into drenching ecstasy --

5 billion years of earth genes
and yet feeling the out of place
child, expecting to sit antsy free
in a classroom

Who can blame Mirror-nature for her
extreme reactions!?~ quakes, plagues
and famines – arguments into world
obliterating...man’s soulful inclination
to be inclement,

downright hostile

and recklessly volatile

in the face of God --
