A Matter Of Faith
When I was a child, I wondered
Was deep sleep, death?
Was every morning a new life, a new incarnation?
Waking up, I found the people around me were the same
I was the same too, nothing changed
This cannot be death I rationalized
When I came of age, I wondered
Is life for real, or are we just atoms clumped together?
Maybe programmed to do certain things
Where did the thought processes begin,
In the heart, in the brain, or the soul?
Is soul, a self-thinking, self-actuating program?
Is the brain the hardware and the soul the software?
Why do we all think differently?
Maybe because the hardware has variable Ram
And software has different versions
I thought humans were meant to do good in this world
And evil was only a manifestation of a virus
Today, life and observation have taught me many things
This world isn’t perfect, it was never meant to be
It is like a classroom where we all are undergoing a test
It is not even a level playing field and the syllabi are different
The resources are varied, and the exam papers are different
Those who cannot cope with the syllabus or exam commit suicide
In a sense, they have chucked the exam and stand rusticated
There is no second chance and there can never be in one’s lifetime
I believe there are discounts and concessions for some
The homeless, the physically and mentally handicapped, the orphans
Have no resources but have a bulky syllabus to contend with
On the other hand, the rich and the elite hog all the resources there are
Without paying an iota of attention to preparing for the test
When it comes to the divine exam, it is made difficult by design
For the haves and easy for the have-nots
That begs the question, why is there
An exam to test all with no absentees?
I believe this world was created deliberately
And perfectly, to remain imperfect
If we can ignore the oxymoron, we may find the real purpose
God Almighty is perfect and He could have
created a perfect world if He wanted to
Alas, that was not his intention, He created an imperfect world to test
Us humans in integrity, patience, morality,
Faith, power, piousness, et cetera
And give weightage to the have-nots and lower sections of society
The rich and the crème de la crème get little or no weightage in this test
Just as every written test and interview is conducted to segregate
Who gets the job and who doesn’t
This test is for who gets Heaven and who doesn’t
Hell exists and there is a reason for it
If this world was perfect, why would anyone ever crave for Heaven?
this world and everything in it is ephemeral
Nothing has lasted forever and nothing will
Yes, it belongs to the rich, elite, powerful, and the hypocrites
But does the promised world belong to them?
No, it belongs to people of pure faith devoid of greed and evil designs
So, why crave this world that promises you
Nothing but robs you of your faith?
If you wish to keep your faith intact shun this world and its temptations
You get a world in the Hereafter that is for real and lasts forever
The beauty of the promised world
Is breathtaking and beyond imagination
But do we have the patience and perseverance?
To wait until the day of reckoning?
Or do we say “A bird in hand is worth two in the bush,”
And cling to the goodies of this world
Not being sure of the ‘promised’ world
It’s a tough call, rising above the pain,
Suffering, hunger, and corruption
To keep our faith and strive to achieve
Entry into the Eternal Place of Happiness
The choices and consequences are ours,
No blame game is allowed in Heaven or Hell.
