Ode to the Fig

Ode to the Fig: An Inverted wonder

Oh fig, thou art no mere fruit,
But a marvel of nature’s intricate pursuit,
Inverted flowers within thy form reside,
A secret world where wonders abide.

Not like cherries or almonds that bloom above,
Thy blossoms hide within, a tale of love.
For figs require a curious decree,
A partnership with the fig wasp, you see.

Within thy crimson chambers deep,
The wasp finds solace, a sacred keep.
In mutual bond, they intertwine,
A dance of life in thy design.

Thy branches bear a crunchy delight,
A symphony of flavours, a pure delight.
Yet, beneath thy skin lies a hidden trove,
Hundreds of fruits in unity wove.

Each flower yields a single nut,
An "aquarium" within thy strut.
Thy essence, a testament to unity's might,
In every fig, a miniature flight.

Though some may now forsake the wasp's call,
Thou still bear fruit for one and all.
A testament to resilience and adaptability's art,
In a world where change is but a part.

Oh fig, thou art a tale of symbiotic grace,
A symbol of life's intricate embrace.
In thee, we find nature's endless hymn,
A masterpiece of creation, so prim.

So here's to thee, oh fig divine,
Thou art a treasure, forever in time.
Inverted wonder, thy secrets unfurl,
A gift of nature, to cherish and twirl.
