Codependence
Codependence is a sinking ship
On deck are the giver and taker
The giver gives over the last rope
The taker asks for the last drop
Codependence is a starved serpent
The mouth chasing its tail without end
The tail offers its hungry heart
The head feeling unloveable feasts
Codependence never gets it right
If only it had a happy childhood
Then right wouldn’t be do or die
Then left wouldn’t have been left
Codependence is a marketplace
Hearts are sold for cheap pennies
Next, bartered are the organs
The bottomless purse gapes empty
Codependence is a black hole
Once there was a newborn star
Now there is a celestial hunger
Planets and stars are no match
Codependence is a glass of wine
The giver erases the day in a haze
The taker provides the bottle
Oh how delicious it is to take
Copedendence, I am enough
God, let me drink living water
Help me to not ask for more
Or give what I do not have
Say I don't care this relationship
Is the first step off this sinking ship
Tell the serpent's mouth enough
Tell the tail codependence chuffs
