California Memories

Her name was Charlie
And she is what I’d call poetry
In the way that dreamers hope to capsule up and be immortalized beyond the two hands that control it all
A wildflower twisted up with a messy bun
With a personality that just wants to run
She asked me, when's the last time you had fun
Before I could answer the adventure has begun
Random thoughts become actions for schedules undone
Experiencing new things by the hour with her as we shotgun
Memories that take a lifetime into one night, filled with the laughter that doesn't need a pun
I told her I had writers block and she said well stop holding your breath, poetry has already sung
Charlie taught me if I don't recognize the moment freedom weighs a ton
Even with creative wings it's hard to say I won
Then Charlie moved to Cali
Then I started to make poems Dali
Life is more than a routine when you see the beauty inside the frame
p.s. I still have that picture of us folded in my journal...
