She's my sun

She is distant but warm,
She doesn’t need to be spoken to,
or be touched to be known.
I’ve travelled great distances in my life,
But she’s the only constant I’ve known.

I see her everyday through all my windows and doors,
And yet somehow she is never allowed to leave her home.
I make sure that the first thing I see is her face
Her radiant smile that burns me alive,
Gives me freckles on my nose,
A tan on my skin,
Streaks of grey in my hair,
Yet in her window she is there still.

At six the bell rings and I know that now it is the time for her to go,
She brushes down her golden hair gleaming now in a red glow
I run all the way to the west wing then,
And for the last time when I looked at her she in all her grandeur.
She warmed my heart and bestowing my brown skin with her golden glow,
And with that she took away my sweet magnolia,
Promising me another day,
Another day to my soul that life is worth living on the other side of the horizon; a new shore.
