Too Close To The Edge

Standing on the edge, feeling the pull of the unknown,
The abyss below me, a fear that has grown.
Should I take the leap into the depths below,
Or step away from the edge, where the fear won't show?

Too close to the edge, where the line is thin,
Between safety and danger, where do I begin?
The thrill of the unknown, the rush in my veins,
But the fear of the fall, the weight of my chains.

Too close to the edge, my heart racing fast,
The unknown calling me, a future vast.
Do I have the courage to take that leap,
Or will I stay back, where it's safe and steep?

Too close to the edge, where choices are made,
Between comfort of the known and risks to be braved.
A step towards the edge or a step back,
The decision is mine, courage is the knack.

Too close to the edge, I stand alone,
But deep inside me, a strength is shown.
I'll step away from the edge, but not in defeat,
For I know that sometimes, it's okay to retreat.
