I Was
I was
A little drunk
At the start
A zest for life
With freewheeling legs
Friend
To all and foe
Little by little
That life chipped away
I drew away
To that shelter
Of inner self
One won’t find
On any shelf
I woke
With headache
And hangover
Not even
The hair of the dog
Can cure
