My Life As King,,

I have worked so hard
I have poured my soul
My skin is secretly scarred
My bones still ache and sore

Even though I have it all
Completed dreams and green paper

I can’t see you, I’m so tall
How do I get back home from this scraper?

I used to play in my backyard
One day I dreamed to shoot the stars

A star that everyone could see
A star that I too, could be

I thought,
I could have it all
I could stand so tall

And in the end I rest today
My fame won’t go away

I’m king of all this land
This puny pile of rock
I’ve held it in my hand
But time still goes tick-tock

And you could one day have it too
But you can’t make it new.

I still can’t play the chords.
I still can’t sing the notes.
I still can’t write the soul.
I still can’t write my life.
I still can’t capture ends.
I still can’t tell you hopes.
I still can’t tell you dreams.
I just own this pile of rock.
I just own a mansion or two.
Just like you, I’m gonna die.
And hope I see gold, so clean and new.

You could have it all.

This puny mound of rock.

I’d let you take it from me.

I’d make you king of this rock.
